Right, if I go to see this film (as I'd like to), I want some uberly cool visuals with NY snowed under and ****. I'm not expecting a deep plot, believable characters or anything fancy like that. I just want some cool post-apocalyptic **** to look at.

Therefore, is this film for me?

Pure spectacle, no plot, no actual value to speak of....

I'm so there.

Nothing like a good natural disaster flick to brighten one's day, especially after some of the ones we've been forced to suffer through on TV:

Asteroid
Volcano
10.5

Speaking of disaster films, anyone have a favorite?

My nomination is for "Threads", England's answer to America's horribly watered-down "The Day After".

My favourite is easily Twister. Not only does it have some pretty good special effects (the tornados do look like tornados for the most part) but there's also quite a nice little rythem to the film. I won't claim there's much of a plot but it's a good laugh with some nice music and some cool action.

I've high hopes for Day After Tomorrow, mainly because I'm a sucker for special FX and that looks to be what this film is really all about. Great.

besides, you can never go wrong with Bill "Game Over, Man, Game Over!" Paxton :)

get him in a movie with Bruce Campbell and I'm set for life.

Looks supercool. I'm so there when it comes out.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

it doesn't look like it has too much of a plot, but who cares, the special effects look amazing :) :D

As for my favourite disaster movie? Probably Dante's Peak, I can't explain why, it's reather cheesy actually, but I always liked it.
