No its not. What they believe is up to them, and affects only them. If Person A realizes that his beliefs are his alone and does not force them on others or perform actions which people who do not subscribe to his beliefs would find unpleasant, its perfectly alright.

Every person is spiritual. Whether that spirituality manifests itself in the form of organized religion or something else, thats a minor point.

Humans beings are fundamentally irrational beings. How can you explain that every single culture in all of human history has gods, rituals - a religion. The quest for meaning is present in all individuals, you could even say that that is our prupose an sentient beings.

Humans are inherently irrational - and yet they can learn to overcome their irrationality and think rationally.  Sadly most of the population never does achieve complete rationality - they always compartmentalize

EDIT:  I don't think spirituality necesarlly implies religion - just a desire to understand who and what we are.  i.e. something which is explored as much through science and philosophy.

Certainly, that's how I've always regarded it - it may not be the correct dictionary definition, but that's because religion was initially the only way to try to understand this.

Stunaep: People basing their view of reality of irrationality causes them to be unable to be trusted to make rational decisions for others.  Their refusal to acknowledge evidencially supported reality and attempts to impose their views upon others (including the indoctrination of children before those children are capapble of rational thought - which is quite effectively brainwashing) is patently dangerous.

If someone doesn't have the facts about reality they cannot be trusted to make a good decision about reality.  Furthermore authoritarian views of morality and black-and-white thinking are patenly dangerous: reality is not black and white and morals only work properly by social contract

Religion once served our species a purpose in bringing small groups togeather - now it is tearing us apart, most major wars in the history of mankind can be traced down to differenecs of religion, followed by territorial expansionism.  


If they had less of a propensity to indoctrinate children who cannot think for thesmelves and had less of a propensity to attempt to impose their views on others I would have a higher propensity to tolerate them
