Points to my own Seeds of Rebellion mini-campaign. Just replace the word cruiser with carrier and you've basically got my campaign. :D

I've been looking at ways to bring in characteristation as basis for short story style campaigns.... it's hard to find a good way to do so.  If someone can actually write in a convincing love story (something which you'll find a lot in movies, etc, to explain the personality of a character and drive the storyline) into an fs campaign I'd be gobsmackedetly impressed.

Of course, the other option is to use an existing storyline - i.e. the FS2 main campaign in particular - and expand on a very small section of it - I think this is the favoured method, just because you have a well established backstory.

Another alternative is to work on your meba-uber-super-epic campaign, but structure it into sensible standalone episodes (of 5-10 missions with a limited number of mods) ala TV series - i.e. each episodic campaign would have a self-contained plot which still related to a grand storyline arc.   I'm not sure why no-one seems to have used this method so far, all I can think of is that people want to go for the big flourish by releasing a massive set of mods, missions, etc.

Forgetting The Lightning Marshal hmmmm? :p

Actually that's not a bad idea for some campaigns. Wouldn't work for TMA or MG though. Forgetting the plotline in the 6 months to a year between releases wouldn't do the plotline any good and both campaigns have a fairly intricate plotline.

Actually this has happened several times through history.  Usually as the result of a severe economic collapse, people will turn to whoever offers a promise to fix it.  Ancient Rome (republic to imperial- Julius Ceasar) Rome again (after it fell, people turned to the church and local feudal lords), Nazi Germany, probably others but those are the ones I can think of.

Anyway, that aside, AlphaOne  this looks like a really promising start.  Reading this thread has given some really cool ideas, if you're interested pls PM me I'd like to work with you in writing out a full story, and possibly eventually we could FRED it out.  I'm no good at modding, but I want to work on the story aspect because I want to try and avoid a lot of classic writing mistakes that screw up sci-fi games and stories and annoy the hell out of me.  There's a lot of life left in the terran and vasudan world and I'd like to see it come out, and not fizzle out.

Caeser is something of a moot point, as it happened almost 2500 years before FS2. Peoples relationship with their government has changed vastly since then.And Hitler was democratically elected as the German Chancellor before he assumed a dictatorial role.

ok look, we all know that the spelling sucks in this thread.  we also know htat not everyone agrees with the storyline, or at least with some parts of it.  But we keep coming back to debate things.  I think that this campaign sounds interesting enough, and think about it......we rocked in ww1, and then went into a depression, what pulled us out was ww2.  I think that judging by history, he has some sound ideas.  

I agree with releasing it episodic.  I plan to release a series of 5-15 mission campaigns involving very few NEW models.  My idea centers on why the Shivans attacked.  be that as it may, if you can gather the mods instead of have them built, well that's your best bet, and trust me, there are more than enough of them for what you are wanting to do.  Just be a scavenger.  I have no plans on creating a rival for BWO, my plan is simple camapign with minimal modding, and maximum playability.  The largest file will be the voice file.  No movies, no cb anims, maybe some still pics in the cb's.  Very simple, more campaign than mod.  If you take that aproach, i think you will see alot more people being receptive to the idea.  We are all just so tired of watching the mods we look forward to ending up dead.  We are also very tired of working on a mod that may end up dead.  So i would take what you can, make your first release, and i can almost guarantee you that when you start work on the second release, people will be willing to help, ask the LM guys if you think i am wrong.

See the reason I thought Freelancer and Freespace would be a good combo is because if you look at it at the right angle both are similiar. The GTA is cut off from earth so they have no way of knowing wheter or not earth survived or not. In the Freelancer Universe all 5 houses came from one group the Alliance who escaped from the solar system because of the Coalition tight grip later on they found that an alien species came out of no where and totally destroyed the solar system. Take note also that both have the same names. The Alliance and the Galactice Terran Alliance. So wouldn't it be wierd that the Alliance is in someway linked to the old GTA. Could the Alliance have destroyed any information relating to the GTA and started all over to rebuild only to once again plunge into a war with a rebel group know as the Coalition. Take note also that the Nomads and the Shivans inhibit similiar characteristics, both share e the a true hatred for the human race, both have advanced weapons and will stop at nothing to see the extinction of the human race.

Did you play FS1? If you did, you'd realize that the GTA was trapped when the Lucy blew up... No conspiracies, nothing... :doubt:

The name of something has nothing to do with whether its related to something in a completely unrelated game. I could relate 2 things from the same game, that have NOTHING to do with each other, but share a word. How about The Shivans, and The Terrans. :rolleyes: Same game. Same word. No relation...

They had warp drives, they invented warp drives, but they didn't have anywhere to go. At the end of FS1, there was no way in, and no way out of the Sol system.

Well I must say that this has proven quite fruitfull.
I mean you guis gave me quite good ideas and pointers on how to make all of this fit.
About the whole mini campaign stuff you are right because with my expertise in programing and modding being 0 which equals to my knoledge of the same things it would be imposible to do so.
Ok as for the Avenger and Seth names dont wory the Avenger will be the Nebula class destroyer and the Seth wil be the Agamemnon.
Oki here is what I think:-make the plot for a small campaign wich will center around the colapse of the GTVA no more then 10 misions with the existing mods and why not the same ships suh as the Aquitane and other hips like that.I will develop the plot soon and fine tune it.
