I am sick and tired of seeing people here disparaging Wing Commander, and I'm sick and tired of seeing people at CIC disparaging FreeSpace 2

Both franchises are great in their own ways and neither one killed the other.  The market and dumb gaming companies shafted both communities plain and simple.

This petty bickering between two communities who should be banding togeather is completely and totally assinine and childish and it _WILL_ _STOP_ or you're going to get harsh tonguelashings.

FreeSpace and Wing Commander are both great games, I've played both FS and a few of WC and they're both good in their own ways.

As for who killed the Space Sim franchise i have no idea.

Unless I'm missing something - there hasn't been a problem between the WC and FS communities for a while now - and that's how it should be. Surely there are more important things to think about than trying to stop people from acting out standard group psychology?

Nico, I'm disappointed - especially given what we were talking about over PM. Regardless of my feelings about the last thing you said my way - picking up the FS/WC fued again is really not needed right now by anyone.

Kazan has a point.

However I'm going to lock this. The Wing Commander relations situation will be incorporated in the Hard Light Productions statement that is currently in production. Expect it to be this sites official stance on all of this and it will be followed to the letter.

We've tried to have a fairly open ended community with freedom for people to say what they like.. but this freedom has been taken for granted lately. I wouldn't say HLP is about to become run with an iron claw, but I will say that we're going to be taking a much harder line with certain things (and you will be told about them - to most this shouldn't make any difference to their time here).

I'll leave this open for about 10 minutes before locking it, just incase anyone else has any last points to say on this, or questions for me regarding what I've just said. After that I'll post again if needed and lock the thread.
