"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

That's okay.

Though don't ask if it's 'strike foils' or 'stabiliser foils.' :D

I know. It's always nice to see pictures of Jupiter and then realise that Earth could fit in the red spot or see pics of the sun compared to the Earth.

Human brains aren't equipped to actually understand how big those things are on a real level. You can know it in your head all you like but I'll bet even astronomer have occasional "That star is REALLY big" moments. :D

Talking about REALLY BIG...check out the size comparisons on the lower left:

Betelgeuse is one the biggest stars known.

That's the sort of thing I'm on about. You may know that as a fact but it's hard to physically comprehend how big that actually is.

If you were actually seeing Betelgeuse close up then you might actually get it :)

It's sort of a reflection of the way that you only realise how big the Grand Canyon or things like that are when you're actually there. Even TV doesn't actually give you the sense of scale.

But yeah. Betelguese is big. Although the sun will swell up to the size of Earths orbit in a few billion years itself.

Imagine Betelgeuse in our solar system. You had to be on one of saturn's moons to be actually outside of the star......and it would fill an awful lot of the sky....damn I'd love to see that.

Theres another star in Orion, called Rigel, which, whilst not as big as Betelgeuse, because it's a mainstream star, not a Red Giant, has so much mass it stands a small chance of going supernova. Now THAT's something I'd like to see, though not from too close ;)

Since when can the Ares carry Cyclops?  Though I'll take it anyway.  Kaysor/Maxim, 36 Harpoons and 80 Tornadoes.  That exhaust port is going DOWN.

:nervous: The only fighter that carries bombs that I'm aware of is the Myrmidon. Carries Helios warheads. :)

Btw, welcome to HLP, varus. ;)
