Well actually that scene is in the beggining of the movie. Before the pyramid is covered in ice. Just to give a brief glimpse into history. You can hear about it in one of the featurettes.

Reading throught the thread and remembering the AvP games, I would say I became less confident in the Predators. Their weapons are not designed to face a large group of enemies. Their weapons are rather specialized for face-to-face duels.

You obviously dont know why the predator even came to earth.
the predator come to earth to be a 'man'. it came for killing the best warrior in the planet so he will become the Hunter. his goal was never to destroy a spices.

Allien is mindless ***** that  kill everything, unlike the predator , alien also kill Woman and unarmed people.

Predator goal is to be the perfect hunter. Wait for the right spot, in the right time. then he kills his victims. ofcurse if he feel threathen he will surely go wild, and probably kill everything that in sight , Though like we seen in the second movie not unarmed people.

Yeah, that's 'cos it's a game . A predator would more than likely be trained in some sort of martial art to deal with multiple enemies at short range (think the pipe fighting bit in the second matrix movie, but with a hunting spear ), and the pistol is pretty damn good at killing anything in the blast radius (though it fires fairly slowly).

That's speculation though - one pred vs a whole load of Aliens - the Pred would probably go down or be forced to use its self-destruct device. Aliens move faster than Predators do and also have acid for blood - close combat is right out. The Predator could twat a group of Aliens with its spear or hand-blade, but the acid would probably still play merry hell... remember that stuff is pressurised inside the Alien.

That said - one on one in the open - the Predator would win.
