other than makeing people inadvertently erase a mesage that they were just about to post without any ability to get it back!
I just spent five-ten minutes writeing up a reply to some technical thingy involveing vertex buffers and the handeling of them in diferent APIs, and I went to hit the add reply button but I accedently hit the stupid reset form button, and thereby erased my mesage rather than added it to the topic. this isn't the first time this has happened, and I am left with only one question,
WHY THE HELL IS IT THERE!?
can we get rid of it, the convenience of clearing out the box with one click, (when you could just as easily highlight everything and retype(this haveing the advantage of being able to go ctrl-z and get your mesage back if you change your mind), or just not hit the reply button), is far outweighed by the inconvenience of accedentaly clearing out the box with one click and not being able to get what you were seconds away from posting back.

usually when i post i hit TAB then ENTER automatically.  occasionally i've hit tab twice by mistake... thereby erasing my message.

i don't mind it though *shrugs*.

I suppose a "are you sure you want to erase this form.. ..yes/no" check box would be a good idea - then the function is there for those that want it - and can be undone by those that don't.

Uhm, wouldn't that take longer than clearing the message anyway? It's not in the normal posting screen anyway (Probably never has been) and no one's complained.

Seems like changing the button to preview the message would be more useful.

yeah, I've done that a few times. Just, instead of having it erase the message, have the button point to Playboy or something. That way, when you hit the wrong button, you get a nice surprise instead of  nasty one.

you know a usefull button to put there would be a button that transfers your post to the full post screen (with the big smileie box and all the other stuff that you might forget) just make sure it transfers what ever you have so far

alt-s also submits replies. Who still points and clicks?To change the reset button is not big thing, can be removed are changed to something else.

What the hell are you doing on Tenerife? That place is a total tourist hell. Carnage. Havoc. I think the Reset Form is a throwback to the Good Old Days (ugh) when the web was young and people just discovered Form Entry!

And thus yon Form designers did readeth yon Ancient Scrolls of Form Designing and sayeth:

And thus yon Curse'd Button Of Form Resetting did propogate through the ages to infest almost all web-based forms! And stuff. Eth.
