I was part of the beta, and am downloading the demo as I type this.

I wouldn't say you could compare it to Rome though... :)

But it is a pretty kewl game in its own right. I'm hoping the cinematics are kick ass... :D

It's fun but I'm not sure how much more the full game will bring that the demo hasn't already.

should keep the armchair generals happy for a while though, seems like fun, really, and it's different from the other tactics, as you have to hold your resource points, aside from hoarding them..

seems like a hoot.

The full campaign, the ability to build ALL Space Marine units (Terminators and Land Raiders were absent), more multi maps, and the ability to play as the Eldar, Chaos and Orks.

Ah - yes - that'd be a conflict of information. I've played the beta (and therefore HAVE built Terminators, Land Raidors - and played with the Eldar, Chaos and Orks).

Any suggestions where I can go to hook up DAP?  Every single file server site I know of has stopped supporting them by using cgi scripts, instead of direct links.  My dialup is twitchy and I need to be able to resume my downloads after the inevitable disconnect.

some 1 tried Hard FFA on the 4 player map?
its insane, if you get lucky instead of 2 army attacking you constatly only 1 will. because the other fighting with the 1 next to him. whoever wins in thier battle will win in the game, i almost destroyed 1 army when other army attacked me from both flanks, after a 10 minute of fighting he used his commander to lunch bombs or something like it... tottaly raped my army.

its insane i tell you insane, beside he never reinforce his army he keeps building and sending.

Tip: press the RMB(right mouse button) on the reinforce button.
it will auto reinforce your squad.

did you saw the Intro? god thats some great movie.
short but gr8. still blizzard movies are better but this one is good aswell..

i have noticed the game trying to copy some of the warc3 elemnets, such as the begining screen where the marine stand like the footman did at wc3. or the graphics point of view wich reminds me of warc3.

You said Demo in your first post, not Beta :p

The biggest thing I noticed between the two, was the demo ran a hell of a lot faster than the beta.

I am now officially honked off!:hopping: :hopping:

I spent 11 hours DLing with DAP after convincing FP that I wasn't using IE and needed to use it's convential queue system and what does my POS ISP do, it decides to crap out in the middle of it all.  I get it back on and the FP starts prompting for a password, what password?  Somehow it's managed to reconnect, but it still has 10 hours to go.

I cannot express my utter contempt for Dial-Up ISPs.  They are a necessary evil in a world without widespead, affordable broadband access.  But make no mistake, 9/10 of them are utterly worthless.

lol - deep breaths Liberator ;) I'm sure the demo will come out with a PC magazine sometime soon, so grab it off the demo cd's some of them have. :D

Fear - Yes, I've seen it now, and I must say that I am immensly satisfied with the cinematics :D

It would be nice to think that there was one after every mission, but I think I'd sooner find a pot of gold... :p

The skirmish mode is pretty damn fun yeah, I enjoyed the campaign mission as well, though I kinda think that they drew out the in-game movie clips a bit... :|

I'd agree with that too Thorn, runs heaps better than the beta... But I dare say that there may be some cause to that seeing as there is only space marines available at the moment...?

But yeah, it is still definitly a game worth playing through once it comes out. I hope its successfull enough for Relic and THQ to create an expansion pack and / or sequel or two...

BTW, does anyone else think Homeworld should have had a system like the squads in DoW do? IE the reinforce, and upgrade certain dudes to heavy weapons.
I put some idea's down myself, but I reckon with HW2's graphics and a fleet building system instead, it would of been a bit more fun...

Homeworld 2 did have a squad system like DoW for strike craft. However you didn't have the option to select different loadouts for each ship in a squad. I think that it would have been an interesting idea to pick gunship turrets, for example, in a style like you can pick the marine guns in DoW.

Yeah, I've got Homeworld 2.

I was thinking in a larger scale though. What if you built fleets like that rather than fighter squads. So you build fleets and upgrade them to have more destroyers, or carriers to launch bombers at them etc.
That way you could truly have epic battles. Maybe they'll try something like that in the 40k universe again. I daresay they'll milk the 40k license a bit more in the next few years... :)

Why not?

I havn't played Battlefleet Gothic, but a computer game would certainly breath some life into things.

Plus if Games workshop has anything to do with it, they'll want the games to drive fans towards the table top as well...
So if it's successfull, I wouldn't be the least surprised to see games covering all of the tabletop games.

Maybe even some Warhammer ones?
