Chechen warlord claims responsibility for Beslan school siege
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3664864.stm

Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev has said he organised the Russian school siege in which at least 320 hostages died, many of them children.

In a letter to a rebel website, he said a suicide battalion had carried out the attack at the school in Beslan.

The letter, which also claimed attacks on two airliners and a Moscow metro station, could not be verified at once.

EDIT; Title is maybe a bit misleading.

just some choice words to describe this particular warlord..

a complete and utter mother****ing, monsterous, stupid son of a ****ing *****...

seriously.. i wouldn't find it that hard to compare this ****tard to any other monster that we've read about in the history books.

the way it all turned out is moot, what kinda 'tard takes /children/ hostage?

[color=66ff00]I'm pretty sure he just uses the fact that the russians have killed way more chechen kids than his forces did to sleep better at night.

He became the enemy which is possibly worse than losing to the enemy.

Most likely the Chechen leader (amoung many) is simply trying to  claim responsibilty because other extremists in his country think hes out of the game (much like the McCarthy trials).  Again I point out that what happened in Beslan is nothing compared to the destruction of Grozny, which if Putin gets his way (which he invariably does) well be that much flatter.

and that is?

i'd hate to say this, but the Chechen didn't do themselves a favor PR-wise to further their cause, all they did was enrage and sicken a helluva lot of russians..:doubt: (as well as a fair amount of people across the world, i might add)

I just read the quote from US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage about it

"Anyone who would use innocents for political aims is not worthy of existence."

Hmm what about the people you used who died in the Twin Towers for your war in Iraq?

Surely not worthy of the dreaded rolleyes?

Anyway, they are a "rap" group consisting of roughly 80 members (15-30 performing at any one time) who are ****ing hillarious and also from Newport in Wales.

At this moment I'd like to also remind, that we're talking about the rebel leader, who has been buying weapons from the Russian Army, and who has, on several occasions walked through villages full of russian troops completely unharmed.

Hmm, there's more to this than meets the eye...

I wonder how many other 'breakaway' states have a serious grievance against Russia?

And it never occured to you that it might be just, that we've had to deal with russian "politics" for sixty years, and we know just a tad better how it works, than a bunch of US politicians, most of whom haven't even set foot on mother Russia.

As for the matter of the Russian Army selling arms to Bassayev, take a look at this article:

"On the question of Basayev's statement taking credit for the massacre in Beslan, it is proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is inhuman," said US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage on a visit to Poland.

"Anyone who would use innocents for political aims is not worthy of existence."

 Y'see, catch a politician on the hop and he might actually let some honesty happen ;)
