Can we seriously stop it, or at least curtail it a bit? I mean, every single thread I read that has to do with current events, nomatter if it's science, religion, politics, war, peace, good, bad, w/e, it always ends up in people bashing eitehr the US or religion (you know who you are).

I mean, seriously, do threads about fat ladies getting stuck to couches, and new planets being discovered TRULY need to devlove int ways we can tell how much the US sucks, or how religion is the root of all evil?


Please people, keep it sane. There's enough insanity and finger-pointing in the world as-is. Why don't we stick to HLP's pedegree and be unique, and not always fight over meaningless things?

I won't make the threads about these topics (never have, never will), but when someone else makes such a topic I'll state my opinion. Besides, I like arguing

Anyway, this place would be very dull if the only topics that we make are about truly meaningless subjects like 'OW! LOOK! A three-legged twin has been born!'. Such threads will result in the following replies;

That's just boring. Arguments are good and they are fun

Tiara, I don't think hes complaining about the threads meant to poke fun at these particular subjects. Sounds like he tired of reading a thread thats totally unrelated to politics or any of that, and suddenly having some twat post trying to turn the thread towards U.S. or Religion bashing.

It's all well and good, post your bashings in actual political or religious threads, but I don't want to hear about them in EVERY SINGLE THREAD that relates to the world. I can barely go into any HLP threads without looking out for constant bashing/flaming.

Ok, let's see;

- A completely uninteresting topic that lasts about 20-30 posts then dies and is forgotten.

- A completely uninteresting topic turns into an argument/debate/bashing (whatever you like to call it) and lasts about 100 posts and people don't forget about it.

i'd rather have the argument.

Sorry, but almost all and any topic posted here that isn't related to religion or politics, is completely and utterly mindnumbingly dull or becaomes that way after 20 or so posts because all has been said. Unless people start posting interesting topics a little bit more often and give something else to talk about, your cries go in vain.

90% of all topics are links to either news sources (which in turn usually deal with politics and the sorts) or link to some stupid flash game/pictures/etc.

(Ow, and don't come with the lame argument of 'then you post something interesting'. The whole reason I rarely start threads is because there isn't anything interesting to post.)

Alright, then post in those 90% of the topics, and leave the other 10% alone and let them die.

Then you'll have, out of 100 threads, 90 that are interesting and are remembered, and 10 that are forgotten and uninteresting.

Let me rephrase that. We should stop bashing certain things.

The "Jesus vs. Bush" thread sums it all up.

Bashing is kinda fun, though. But it is possible to have discussions without it.
