Some problems with Doom3
Ok...

I got the Radeon 9200se I had brought back a while ago to finally work with a fresh install of windows, and i've put in the Radeon Omega drivers after that and began playing doom3 (albiet at low details) and it was working fine then. After that i go to sleep and awake to discover my brother has complaints about the thing even tho i stayed up till midnight just to fix the #$@$ thing for him.

The problem now is that Doom 3 is crashing randomly and without warning. At first, I thought it was an issue with the virtual memory and tried to increase it, but the crashes persist. They happen soon after the game starts and I really dont know why its occuring. Could it be the omega drivers or the card itself? The only thing running besides it is ZoneAlarm.

Any help please? :/

i too have the 9200, and i had no trouble at all with Doom 3.  the driver i'm running are the latest ones i downloaded from ATI's webpage at the time (a few months ago). "wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-00-040322a-014266c" is the name of the file.  i can send it to you if you want, since i know for sure that it works.

EDIT:  are you positive it's actually the video card?  could it be something else and just a coincidence?

im not positive its just the video card. Heck, i dont know what it is at all. but i just set the card to overclock a bit (not too much) and Doom3 ran fine for a while...and then crashed a bit later! But just before it crashed it gave some visual problems, where it would hang for a couple of seconds and then only move. The screen also went on and then off again for a seconds before moving normally...then around a minute later it crashed again.

I'll go get the ati drivers and remove the omega ones just in case tho...

no luck. The game still crashes, leaving me staring at a blank monitor that goes on and off for no reason. Although the PC still appears to be running, it doesn't respond at all!

Now I cant play FS2 because it gives me an error about window position or something. i tried OGL mode and got as far as the mission loading screen before it gave me a program error and sent me to the desktop! Is cant be a card problem cause it runs doom3 just fine at my uncle's house and PC, but cant do it here!

errr...

Im not using a pc case at all. Its all open-air (and cleaned frequently) and near the air-con.

Could be getting too hot tho. I un-installed and re-installed win2k and it seemed to work....before giving me the error again. I then put in DX 9.0c and SP4 and it seems to work...it goes on for longer and THEN crashes. This was still with hte omega drivers btw. I tried uninstalling them, but they still show up. Is the driver cleaner required to completely remove the drivers?

Omegas should come with their own uninstaller.

Uninstalled, tried the new Cat drivers. No luck. now it goes out just a few seconds after loading the game. I'm staring at the door and then WHAM! monitor goes blank, blinks on and off till i rest the computer.

What is wrong here? Windows or Doom3?
