Liberator, I understand where you're coming from, and for the most part I agree. I'm all for frank and open discussion about whatever, but when every single damn thread becomes a firing range for political idealogy, its gets tiresome. My only advice to you is to learn to take it in stride, and realize that comsically speaking, what some guy on the Net says and thinks isn't really of much concern to anyone. Life's too short to get upset every time someone calls you a fascist or a fundamentalist or whatever. I'm as opposed to the policy decisions of the US as anyone, but shouting it from the top of my e-lungs isn't going to change anyone's mind and evidently, its has a tendency to piss people off. Don't let it get to you, after all, its just words.

Seriously, though, don't get down about it.  Everyone here is friendly enough, at least outside of the realm of politics/religion.  Try taking a breather and come back with a new philosophy.  You and I both know that no one's going to change their minds because of something that anyone else says.  I've felt the "brick wall" analogy myself, and I know how frustrating it can be.  Just remember that, at the end of the day, you still believe what you believe, and no one can change that.  Not even a whole row of "Christofascists!!!!!1!1!1" posts.

Lib, you are obviously paranoid (either naturally or due to results of 'debating' with others) so maybe you should take a break...  It happens to eveyone occasionally.  You don't have to go, just lurk.  But sometimes one decides they do have to go and that is O.K. too...  No biggie, in REALITY we are all just a bunch of folks that don't really know each other that are hundreds/thousands or more miles apart.  It takes a long time to develop close friendships or even respect via the internet - a few folks here have done that - here and/or in other places.  So in your RL it probably is not that big of a deal to sweat (laborously...) what goes on in here...  This is a good escape and also a good place to see what else is out there in the world, but this stuff will not affect your immediate environment unless you allow it to...
