Very interesting concept. Though I'm sure other countries would object.

No bloody wonder.....especially as there's a hint that the US may disrupt / jam the Galileo (GPS replacement) system being launched by the EU anyways.

With China in particular pushing into space, you'd be looking at a very dodgy situation.......

You can't spell "hegemony" without "domination and militariztion of space".

...well, maybe you can, but my point stands.

Yeah, I can't imagine that the rest of the world would be happy if the US really put a program like that in orbit.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Dear oh dear....

It's pathetic the lengths some people will go to, I wonder if this is what America had in mind for the new European GPS system. It's going to be difficult with Russia and China throwing a hand-in, but if they could make it look like an engineering fault.....

It's really polarizing into 'the world vs the US' now, isn't it?

I mean, we're suppossed to have this so-called special relationship and I doubt the majority of UK voters would actually support 90% of US policy or politics if given the choice.

Space should not be used as a warzone unless it is against the Shivans. :p
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Oh, and apparently the US has not ruled out shooting down neutral sattelites if they are being used by a hostile nation during a war; http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10/01/usaf_plans_space_wars/

Well, as soon as someone (say, the United States) starts to put weapons on orbit, some other nation (like, for example, China) may just launch a scatter bomb (lots and lots of ball bearings, for example) and deny orbital space for everyone, and the game will be over. And we'll lose all satellite based communications too.

Isn't there some treaty that bans the militarization of space? Something to do with the anti-nuke treaties? Or am I making it up....?
