We should petition for a disolvement on EA on the reason that they suck balls, cept for EA Sports, leave them.
Put this in your profile if you know someone who is fighting, has survived, or has died from an awp no scope.

well listen method man

You don't have any of the Myst series?  Heathen! :p As long as EA keeps their grubby fingers away from Cyan's property, I don't really care.

true, true.
well, since Westwood was enveloped by EA, it was pretty much the end of C&C as we know it..

however, 20% of Ubisoft is not enough for them to actually take the reigns over Ubi's direction as a dev/publisher.  That said, if EA actually does become as big as i fear it might, if it ever goes down, it's gonna take a lot of companies with it..

True, but they can do minimal controlling and that is enough do some harm it's rumoured that EA wanted buy 20% because of Ubisoft's Sport games (NFL&NBA hoops ? )

UbiSoft was good...but there's been problems recently.

We'll see if they can pull out of their current nosedive.

Well that is mostly because Ubisoft's games don't sell enough, and they don't hype games like EA do

PoP, BG&E, SC, RA and GR are all top notch series but they don't sell so much

Just imagine IL-2 with a licensed Linkin Park* soundtrack and 'arcade' controls and you can see the effects of an EA takeover.......

A valid point can be read here. I say this 20 % is only the beginning, they will take over more.
I am not particularly interested in this EA business, I did not like any of their action games like MoHAA or CoD; they simple did not fit my quaker-style. I know and understand that many, many people love those games. I am not among them.
What I liked in EA was their World Cup 98(soccer). No other members of the FIFA series could stick me behind the keyboard for longer, maybe FIFA97's indoor matches could competite. On a side note, that may be because I have always prefered national football to club football.

that's true, now, part of EA's "success" is Maxis, another, would be the somewhat lackluster sports games (IMO) that just have sharper graphics, but don't overall improve on the core gameplay itself.

all in all, i can see this coming to a point where there will be two big names duking it out for gaming supremecy, EA, and Microsoft Games Studios.

On the other side, imagine if Konami had the Fifa license for Pro-Evo.........

NB: CoD wasn't EA (Activision, I think); it was made by former employees of the company that did make MoH - it's maybe worth noting the dip in quality that series has suffered since, and also maybe worth observing the recent furore about EA work practices.

In the games industry, EA are probably already as powerful as MS are in the Os industry.

that wont happen I think, atleast MS would not be happy. Because it would be potential threat to MS in market

It's not that easy because it would be "Hostile" takeover, so decision would made in court and it's takes years. And i'am sure that UBI share holders don't sell ubi to EA.

lol.

EA sports have generated some good games. But I suspect the cause for their survival is not because they are super great games, but because sports games are pre-defined. People know and can expect what they are going to get.
Plus most of the gameplay that is in Sports game is the same repetive crap over and over again. But thats what sports are, the exact same scenario with different stats and tactics.
More or less anyway.

Just about all of EA games fall under the same description these days though.
Visually appealing, fun for a few minutes, poor longetivity.

Mind, gamers expectations are getting bigger and bigger each year which does'nt help.

Personally I long for a game with a quality storyline that is fun to play.
Halo, and Halo2 fit these well, and while fun, and have decent longetivity. Halo2 still is Halo, and it does still have the general Halo feel. So being a sequel it still feels like I've been playing the game for a number of years already.
Half Life 2 - storyline was a letdown. Plain and simple.

I've seen Vamp Bloodlines at a friends and will prob pick that up some day, it looks alright and has enough depth to keep one occupied.

But yes.
EA is trying to pump out games like a product - create visual appeal, simpe gameplay, release. Improve on features release.
I just think this is wrong. Games are a form of entertainment.
It's more of a service than a product. Each experience should be entertaining.

Knowing these things, and doing are still difficult things to do. But I guess it seperate the great developers from the average ones.

  • Degrees of guilt.
MS > EA at this point.

Now, if MS somehow revived a dead game, and allowed a dedicated team of coders and other people who loved that game to work on a possible sequel it till it was 'just' right like they did the Original Halo and Halo 2, they'd so pwn EA, it would really fricking funny.

:nervous:
