The defenders of fluoridation, the practice of adding a small amount of fluoride to drinking water in order to fight tooth decay, are forced to respond to comments about these contradictory uses of fluoride by explaining that it's a matter of dosage. The amount of fluoride used to fight cavities is very small, you see, whereas the amount of fluoride in rat poison is very large.

This isn't exactly the most viscerally satisfying response. A concerned parent wants to hear "we are NOT adding rat poison to your children's drinking water," but instead they're being told "we're not adding MUCH rat poison to your children's drinking water."

Think about it though, the amount of fluoride in tap water is measured in parts fluoride per millions parts water, it is an infinitesimal dose.  The amount in rat poison is likely measured in percentage of the whole which is a much larger dosage.  of course the idiot parents aren't going to listent to this...

Funny thing is, kids don't drink a whole lot of tap water at home, and are likely to be forced to do weekly flouride rinses in school with a much more potent and easy to swallow dose.

they don't make us use fluoride here. Of course, where I live probably only half of the people know what fluoride is.

We have well water at my house, so I don't really care one way or another. Of course, I could probably sell my tap water as mineral water, but still...

In the case of Nutra Sweet it's justified.

And Flouride.

Nutra Sweet was shown to build up in the body and eventually cause cancer(every artificial sweetener has).

Asbestos is perfectly safe so long as it's handled properly(and it's by far the most fireproof insulator available since it's a rock and all), the only major problems arise when joe blow general contractor starts to remove it and stirs all the damn fibers about.  Would I use it in a new construction?  Of course not, fiberglass and foam are much better insulators.  Am I going to remove them unnecessarilly from an older construction?  Not unless it's been damaged and in need of replacement.

ah, rotten dot com, i remember reading this when the site first came up...

http://poetry.rotten.com/donutland/   <--  there's truth to that old cliche.

and yeah, asbestos fibers are the cause of all the problems, proper handling is where its at, have a look at the James Hardie debacle in australia, where former asbestos miners are getting compo for the problems that's cause him, quite interesting, really.
