...I'm pleasantly suprised.

From all the pre-airing ramble it sounded like Observer Effect would be another piece-of-**** episode ala Season 1, but not only did they manage to hammer together a coherant and believable one-shot-plot (IE, not part of a larger arc) they also managed to include some TOS canon too.

It seems to be getting better and better by the episode. Daedalus was okay, but it was too heavily shaded towards DS9's The Visitor with Sisko trapped in subspace, leap-frogging through time - and thus bucked the curve.

But overall I'm actually starting to like the series.

Andromeda is the greatest sci-fi TV series ever.

Andromeda was okay till the end of the third series - then it went completely ****in' nuts.

Tyr destroyed the universe, Dylan turned out to be a Vedran, Trance aged abotu 40 years in 2 seconds, they go trapped in that asshole of the galaxy affectionately refered to as Seefra, found out Seefra was built outside the universe by the Vedrans, found another outside-the-universe place filled with psychopathic androids, faced down the Magog a good few times and got naked NEVER!

Very well, I will concede that this is a flaw not to be ignored.

Lexa Doig, Laura Bertram, Brandy Ledford and Lisa Ryder seriously need to get onboard the Maru, lock themselves in Trance's little garden and **** each others brains out - for like a whole episode.

Even if they don't show it, just knowing that it happened within the confines of an episode will make me happy.

I suggest you stay glued to your TV for the rest of the season.  A 3-ep arc starts next week with more Romulans and Federation-foundation-laying.  There'll then be a 2-parter dealing with something that was touched on in DS9 "Trials and Tribblations", the beginning of a shady organization, and some cool "high-wire" acts.  Just prior to the end of the season, we'll get some cool "reflections" and an un-expected TOS Tholian tie-in as another 2-parter.  Be advised, most of the preceding was hints rather than actual content.  I'm trying not to spoil too much.

If the 'T&T' thing means we get to see the Klingons obliterating the Tribble homeworld, I'm ecstatic.

That happened between TOS and the first movie IIRC.

I assumed it would have happened around Enterprise's time, giving a reason for Tribbles to not like Klingons.

Something like say a Tellerite freighter carried some Tribbles and they got aboard a Klingon ship. They began to spread all over Klingon planets, leading to them attacking and destroying the Tribble homeworld. (maybe using an anti-Tribble bioweapon?)

Anyway, it'd make a fun multi-part Ent episode...

Yes, it would.

But Tribbles are not really anything but eating machines that are born pregnant and produce a rythmic sound that everybody but the Klingons finds soothing.  I don't see them having higher brain functions like, say, a mouse.

They do mean the "forehead" issue.  They've said as much.

i would think it would have to have happened after the trouble with tribbles, because if their homeworld had been destroyed, Cerino Jones couldn't have gotten his hands on any.
