As many of you know, I'm in IDF reserves at the moment (until March 2nd). But, what most of you probably
don't know is that this very moment as I type this, I am sitting in a guard tower north of Jerusalem. I have an IBM laptop in my lap, with a USB Bluetooth dongle sticking out the back. My cellphone is connected to the laptop via the abovementioned Bluetooth dongle, thus enabling me to surf wirelessly.
All fine and relatively standard so far.
A few minutes ago, my phone rang - a friend from my unit called me about something or another. It rang once, and then I heard his voice coming out of a loudspeaker. Now, this was confusing because my particular model cellphone, a Sony Ericsson T630, doesn't
have a loudspeaker.
It took me a moment to realize that the voice was coming out of the laptop's speakers, and my voice was being carried to him via the laptop's built-in mic. And all the while, I was still connected to the net, chatting away on Trillian with some friends.
