He's been on death's door for a while now.  At this point, you could probably sneeze on him and he'd keel over.  <<;

Well, at least he knows where he's going. That should at least be some consolation.If there's one person who doesn't have to fear death, I would guess it would be the Pope.

What if god has been tricking everyone and sending the faithful to hell? I'll bet he has.

Actually, I wonder if the popemobile is hermetically sealed for that purpose......

Unfortunate as it is, I agree with the incredulity expressed in this statement. The pope isn't exactly the first person that comes to mind when I think of someone who reads and tries to follow the Bible... :doubt:

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I'm sorry, but a popemobile? Isn't that sort of, well, over the top?

It exists, and it's bullet proof. I guess it came in handy the time he visited glasgow.

That picture just says so much about how things still work here on earth.

Look at the people wayving and clapping like the Pope is a superstar.

The man "is" trying to promote a way of life where the over riding principle should be going out of your way to help people around you and get past the idea that idolizing other people (and not the way they live) just distracts you from that aim. (FYI I'm not Catholic).

I'll leave it at that for now.

Cheers!

[EDIT]

I just had that image of the Family Guy episode Flash in my mind where Brian and Stewi fly around the work in an Air balloon, and in Rome, the Pope is whining about having to get up. It's a funny one. :)

Perhaps he refers to the series of Pope's who were given a bit of land long ago and became corrupt.

Were those the ones that had their sons become the Pope after them?

And there is a reason for the bulletproof Popemobile. Namely, the assasination attempt about twenty years ago.
