I have GeForce4 3D Blaster 4 MX420 PCI 64MB. And it's not installed because for some reason it doesn't work on my PC.

The minimum requirements for the GF4 graphics card are:
Intel Pentium 2 or later
64MB of system memory
PCI 2.1 compliant slot or better
MS Win 98/ME/2000/XP/NT4

My PC:
Intel Pentium 2 450Mhz
256MB RAM
Windows ME
And I'm pretty frikkin' sure that my PC has PCI 2.1.

When the card is installed and I start the computer, the screen is black and the PC beebs (vid card error beeping).

I have reseated the vidcard a few times, so I don't think that's the problem. And my comp doesn't have an onboard vid.

BTW, I posted this question at two diffirent hardware forums.. And I got only one answer: Try reseating it and disable onboard vid.

Maybe someone here can help? :)

And if you're going to say that MX420 sucks, believe me, it's 50 times better than the current one.

When the PC beeps, count the beep code, then go look for beep codes (http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html - beep code list)

See which one it is.

ah nevermind see you tried that.. hold on racking my brain...

Have you tried putting the PCI card in diffrent PCI slots? Move your PCI cards around and see. That's worked for me sometimes.

Most probably you dont have PCI 2.1 on your board.... I really doubt it would be anything else because in all my years of building computers I have never had anything like that happen to me. Does the card work on any other computers?

Yeah, I know, my comp is antique. But the GF4 would really make it better.
And thanks, I'll do that, although I'm pretty sure it's not that.

I haven't tested it on any other comp. How can I tell what PCI my comp has? Can it be done in Windows?

Try looking up your motherboard on the internet.  The specs should state whether it's PCI 2.1 compliant.
