Has anyone noticed that almost every single picture of the "revolution"  in Lebanon has an attractive chick in the foreground? I must say, its a masterful propaganda tactic, though quite unusual, and provides a rather stark contrast to the burqa-clad women in other Middle-Eastern  nations as they are typically represented in the media.

Kudos to whoever came up with this idea.

Everyone suddenly got really pissed at the Syrians' occupation (since the assassination of the former PM), so there have been demonstrations in Beirut, and the (pro-Syrian) government resigned under the pressure. Bush and Co. piled in as well, and now the Syrians have started to withdraw their troops (about 5000 out of the 14000 there in the next few weeks IIRC), pulling back to the borders. There are some concerns about whether it's going to be a full withdrawal, and there is speculation that there may be a substantial presence left in the Bakaa Valley (sp?)

Oh, and on a side note; Who else thinks that Bush saying that there should be no occupation in Lebanon is a little hypocritical?

If Iraq were an occupation, that is to say a openly hostile military presence that is unwanted by a majority of the population of an area, I would agree with you.

However, 8 in 10 Iraqis actually like the Americans.  They want us to leave, but they want the terrorists gone more and they know that we will leave when the terrorists are gone and Iraq is capable of defending herself.
