Well here is mi problem I have a new ship ideea I wanted u guis to take a look at since you are a lot better at this then me.
The ship I draw on a papertowel(sp?). Then I had it scaned and brought into mi pc. But i cant seem to be able to post it on the web..keeps giving me some sort of conection error each time I try I dont know why but I will post the specs so that U guis can give it a checkup.

It is a dreadnought class capship.
-4.3 km long
Armaments:

-1BFGreen
-1LRBgreen
-1 Bgreen in the rear
-5TerSlash 2 on each side and one under it
-3 AAAf beams
-6flacks medium range
-9missile launchers
-and a fighterbay of about 200combat spacecraft complete with its own fighterasembly bay.

This thing has about 250.000hp.

It is designed to tacke enithing smaller then a dreadnought class warship. Basicly these shpis are a limited series that can be brought in wherever they are needed the most and because of their big armour can withstand quite a lot of punishment. But as u can see it is not indestructable it's main week point is its AAAf defenses which I believe to be medium at best.

So in terms of how it looks think of a Orion on steroids.

I would apreciate eny hints and posibilities to make it more FS like if u know what Imean.

Also whi doesnt truespace work on windows xp????????

Truespace should work fine on XP. (well 6.x and 5.1 certainly do and I've never heard of any problems with earlier versions. What happens when you try to run it?

Also, the HP is a bit low for a ship of that size.

Well regarding the truespace thing it tells me that windows canot open the target file file mai be corupted and something like that!

As for the ship well 250.000 hp isnt quite low keepig in mind that the Orion has like what 120.000 and it is the most heavely armoured destroyer the GTVA has. But if u think so maibe some 300.000 should be enough.

As for the beam cannons I dont know...I was thinking of another LrBGreen just to give it a more decise punch.
I mean it could tackle head on enithing destroyer size with no problems lest say a Ravana ! Also the ship has to have a good allround weaponry not necesarly fightercover but heavy beamcannons coverage.

Now that i've looked at the whole how many spacecraft can one ship carry I believe that 160 spacecraft would be enough with its own fighterbay asembly/repair area!

Why won't people put laser turrets on capships anymore?

Because people just can't appreciate the usefulness of the turrets anymore. They tend to suck pretty bad in regular FS2, but with Sandwich's CapShipTurret Upgrade, they kick ass.

But laser turrets are a capital ship's main defense against bombers (and bombs)... or at least they are supposed to be.

I don't mean to sound rude at all, but where have all the well-balanced ships gone? Every ship these days is designed to eat a couple of destroyers for breakfast and get away hardly without a scratch.

Actually, all things considered, that ship is reasonably well-balanced. It traded armor for weaponry. Also consider that you're never going to see it launch those two hundred fightercraft in its own defense, and you realize it's also quite vunerable to bomber attack.

And laser turrets are a capship's main defense against bombs, unless and until I figure how to get the Maxim's rate of fire when attached to a large ship to be anything like its rate of fire when attached to a fighter. Flak doesn't work real well for bomb interception, blobs do.

Oh please. Look at that ship's firepower. It gets in range of anything and pop, it's gone. And why wouldn't it launch all TWO ****ING HUNDRED of those fighters? God, AlphaOne, don't you realize how many TWO HUNDRED FIGHTERS IS? IIRC, that's more than the Collossus, in a destroyer!

4.3 km? Aren't destroyers around the 1-1.5 km line? If so, this isn't really a destroyer then, but more a juggernaut.

It's a super destroyer, much like the Hades and the Lucifer.
Average destroyers tend to have about 2km.
