Got the book finally. Read halfway through it.

I flipping love it!

*now wishes the games included more spartans*

Everyone, go read, now!

The Fall of Reach and First Strike were fun reads. First Strike will especially put a lot of stuff in Halo 2 into a fuller context.

Talk spoilers after you're done reading. ;)

They'd better have some of the others in Halo 3, or I'm going to be upset...

I doubt they will, keep in mind the books are "inspired."

A friend lent me Halo: The Fall of Reach recently.  Great read.  Got me wondering about recreating some of the spaceship battles in Freespace - particularly the Keyes Loop. ;)

Hehe... Just finished, started First Strike now...

The books are better than the games (at least H2) IMO. The Fall of Reach and First Strike are amazing, The Flood on the other hand is stupid, a waste of time.

Err...It says right on TFoR, in big yellow letters, "The Official Prequal to the Award-Winning XBox Game."

Yes, but Bungie has thus far denied the existence of any remaining Spartans other than 117 as far as the games are concerned.

which is why the books are better than the games.

Not exactly the point I was making. You said the Novel was merely "Inspired" by the Halo Games when it's actually official material.

Well, you have the example of the Star Wars books. They're official, but Lucas doesn't care about them at all and they aren't considered canon.

Exactly. I hope that Bungie adds some stuff in the books into the games, that would be so sweet! (silenced AR? combat knife?)

The way I understood it was that they were considered canon unless overridden by the movies.

Depends. Are you asking LucasArts, or George Lucas? Possibly in case one, but in case two, not even the movies can be considered canon...
