Ahh, I have the real deal in my A7N8X-E Deluxe. Soundstorm... MCP-T... something-something-whatever. I dunno the codes, I know it rocks as a sound card, though.

There's no nVidia onboard audio, unless you mean SoundStorm which is an add-on card, not onboard audio. And if you've got SoundStorm, why would you be looking for a new sound card then?

nvidia "nforce".

i'm looking for a new soundcard to take advantage of my 5.1 headphones, something my current on-board soundcard won't do :(

That's why you should just hook up your old SB Live! Unless, of course, you have one of the setups that has the option of converting the inputs to outputs for 5.1 sound. You may want to check into that.

Just get a new SB Live! then. They're dirt cheap, and even though those Zalmans are fairly high end, they're not high end enough to have that noticeable a difference between a SB Live! and an Audigy 2.
