Freespace 2 Tabletop Game [update 4/13]
Since I thought that it would be nice to be able to just become a member of the almighty command, I decided to make the Freespace 2 Tabletop Game, or Freespace: Commanding Officer.

FCO is handled similarly to games like Warhammer, or my favorite, A Call to Arms.  Select your units, place them, move them, then attack with them.

PS. Even though I can really shorten the amount of weapons listed for each ship while still maintaining maximum efficiency and balance, the Colossus still takes a whole page just for all the weapons listed, as opposed to the rest of the ships, taking a page for everything, not just the weapons.

Hey, I'm pretty interested in this.

Contact me I'm sure I could work something out, I'm pretty sure that Modelview screenshots would be more than succifient.

Infact contact me anyway because, like I said, I'm very interested.

I can not run modelview on a mac...

And for some reason, after saving the root.vp with an accidental "v" in the middle, I can't run freespace 2 OSX Port.

After seeing the badly drawn A Call to Arms tokens, I decided I would use in-game models instead of 2d drawings.

And, thanks for the support, guys!

A top-down view of the ships facing north would be great.

Exclude cargo boxes, and make the Ganeymede shot at an almost top-down view, so you can actually see what it looks like.

Im relieved that people are actually excited about this, as I didn't want to do all I had  already done for nothing.

I recently bought Battle Fleet Gothic, have you considered using the rules from that.

You can then lump turrets into batteries which makes things easyer.

Great Idea non the less!

Okay. I took a picture of the Fenris. I took it with both a black background and magic megenta. (255, 0, 255)

I hope it's how you want it. (Png so there is no image quality loss)

If it's fine I'll do more, how about I'll do all of the Terran cruisers and corvette?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Fenris as much as the next guy, but good god that's an ugly angle.  And don't use modelview for the screenshots if you can help it; a proper render would be infinitely better.
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Okay I've just done a hell of a load of Terran ships. I think I've got them all except fighters, bombers, destroyers and the Colossus.

They're in this rar:

http://www.ferretgames.com/FCO-ships1.rar

Ships in it have both black and magic magenta flavoured backgrounds.
I did:

Aoleus Cruiser
Alastor Gun Platform
Amazon Drone
Amazon Advanced Drone
Arcadia Installtion
Argo Transport
Boadicea Base
Charybdis AWACS
Deimos Corvette
Elysium Transport
Faustus Science Vessel
Ganymede Drydock
Hermes Pod
Hippocrate Medical Vessel
Hygeia Support Ship
Iceni
Knossos Portal (!)
Meson Bomb
Mjolnir Cannon
Pharos Bouy
Poseidon Freighter
Triton Freighter
Watchdog + Cerberus Gun Platform (Use the same model)
Zephyrus Gas Miner

And I thought it would bge a good idea to to the Subspace Node marker too.

And now I REALLY hope they're okay.

[edit]

Whoops did them before I saw Stratcomms post... *Shrugs*
Getting them from a useable angle in-game would be a nightmare.

The ships range from 1x1" fighter to 6x8" sathanas roughly, no need for a huge fenris.  Top-down is nice, and no need for the magenta background.  Only give them an angle if you really have to, as weird things happen if you rotate a card that has something from an angle.

For a status update, I am nearing completion of the Vasudans, which happens to be the smallest ship section.

Should I scale the large ships down to a 3x4" Sathanas so you dont have a huge ship next to a tiny wing of fighters, or should I keep it more realalistic?  Also, batteries won't work.  Do Freespace 2 ships have laser batteries?  There is a good reason why the turrets are spread out.

I am using unusual firing arcs to simulate blind spots to an otherwise 360º angle, such as F 270º, rather than having three identical guns that are F 90º, P 90º, and S 90º.  Is that ok?

Sadly, you will have to cut out all the ship tokens.  I do not wish to deal with Volition and Interplay for the rights to use it in a marketing act.

If you guys are patient, I will let you in on a shocking secret.;)
