I hit my depressed phase again...

After I finished 7 misions of my FS2 campaign I started to play several new games  - Republic Commande, FFv3r, Star Wolves, etc...
I passed tham all and got boread...so I started to help with a KOTOR2 mod project....

And I frequent Dragon Age development boards (bioware.com), Heroes of M&M5 dev forums (Nival),  HLP, and some other forums as well as some on-line comics (Order of hte Stick, the noob, VG cats)..
Finally after watching a bit some old Escaflowne episodes the depression struck me full force....

I felt sad becoause all the good games I played and are now over...all the cool series and movies that I watched that are now over (LOTR, VoE)
So now I spend  the evnings downlaoding AMV's and wallpapers...and browsing forums....

Terrible thing....:sigh:
I estimate a good wek or two before this phase passes....It hits ma allways at least once a year...

Yup, I get the same thing, can't get motivated to Mod or even open Lightwave. I've been in the sink for about 5 months now, will probably rise back out in a few more, but it's frustrating because I always feel like I'm letting the mods I'm working on down when I'm not doing anything on them, and that makes me feel worse.

Same for me..
Alltough this is a case of good movie/game induced depression.

In my case it was triggered by the end of LOTR and more specificly watching VoE again...

Hope you snap out of it soon...

I've not actually felt like modding since about November... In fact, I constantly feel like packing up my things, and quitting this business all together... But I'm too lazy to look for something else to do. :sigh:

Feeling down? Read the news there and then realise how much worse off you could be in life, quit whining and get on with it.

Why do you think I get depressed in the first place? ;)

On the subject of depression, why must Illustrator CS run out of memory just when you have something looking right?

Watch the new Batttlestar Galactica series. It's the best thing I've seen in a long, long time. Easily the LOTR of the TV series world.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

You know, just because other people have / are going through some terrible things - doesn't make ones own problems any less painful :doubt:

Kal, he's posting a thread that he's depressed because:

[q]I felt sad becoause all the good games I played and are now over...all the cool series and movies that I watched that are now over (LOTR, VoE)

I'm merely trying to put some perspective on it.

If you want to be depressed about a long term relationship crashing and burning, an old friend leaving, a family member in trouble, etc etc etc then you're right - nothing makes one's own problems any less painful.  This doesn't count however.

Fair enough.. sorry, I'm having a rough patch at the moment myself. Didn't really think any further than what I saw.

*backs out of the thread to go and get some sleep*

Well, mine is clinical depression, so I don't really have much of a say in the matter, it's a chemical imbalance. I'm still sure the reason it's on the rise is because of the amount of dodgy chemicals we injest these days with our food.

Depression sucks.  So you have to deal with it. What I do is write a journal entry or grab my iPod, find some dark music and pound it into my head until 11 at night, then spend an hour trying to fall asleep, in the mean time pondering about what I've done in life despite my age, and think about other people.

I dunno.  You've got you methods.  Next time you get down, listen to Massive Attack's "Teardrop."

*Looks sympathetically at Flip.*

Not really...
I said that triggered it - not that it's the only cause..

there are many others...basicly I hate my life (come to think of it - I have none). My best friend is in Korea having a complex surgery.

You know, now that I think about it, there is no rule about what you should feel depressed about. Humans are highly emotional and they can "bond" easily with everything and anything....

On a side note, I found some amazing AMV's.:D
Guys fro mthe entertainment industry could sure leran a lot about making a music video from these guys...

I've noticed that people use the word 'depressed' far too often, not knowing what depression is.

Note. This is not directed to anyone here.

That sounds more like the cause than the cure........

I had a mate who developed clinical depression when he first started uni; he ended up being hospitalised for a while, although he's ok now.  But it does put things into perspective.
