Not exactly news; they did say it was a prototype design and even asked the audience for opinions on it (which is somewhat bizarre).

Did any of the manufacturers bring a working console, anyways?  MS brought devkits, and I'd expect Sony to have done the same.

@Kami; yeah, I'm worried about a lack of tactile feedback myself.  Of course, it's possible they'll have that and a touchpad or something...

MS had working consoles there, they just didn't use them as it is still not completely finalized (more specifically, the disk drive).

So a final product doesn't necessarily have to work?  That's a curiously MS-esque view.

 (because if they did have a working product, they wouldn't need to use devkits to run the demos, would they?)

Gah, I know they have versions that work that are not dev kits (not necesarily at E3)... Let's just leave it at that.
