Just what I was going to say, on both counts. Especially about taking it to other people's houses... popping the Xbox into its carry bag with a couple of controllers will just about break anyone's neck if you carry it for more than half an hour.

Bah!  No it won't. You've obviously never had to carry 6 700 pg textbooks throughout elementary school. :p

Well, I'm exagerrating a little. ;) But still, the current Xbox is way heavier than its competitors at the moment. I'm interested to see how heavy the 360 is, given its much more compact form factor.

That's because the XB is currently a PC with an emulator for an OS... basically.

Nintendo is kind of like Apple. They do their own little thing, very innovative, and always different from the rest.

Here's a link to the announcement of the Revolution.  You can get all of the old SNES and NES games on it, this already kicks PS3's and 360's ass.  Dear god I want one NOW.

Damn them. I had settled on a single next-gen console, then they had to do this. They really want to make me indecisive, don't they?

they need to give us better details about netgaming on the system, and how it will compete graphically with the other systems.  and they still seem content releasing on the backs of old characters, nothing really new and exciting. like if they told me SSB was releasing with netplay, that would be exciting

Goddamn. I can't really decide if I want a PS3 or Revolution more. I may have to get both. :p

Actually, a major tipping factor in this would be if either company suddenly became wise and benevolent and got rid of the really stupid region control junk. If I have to purchase a PS3 from Japan to play all my games I'll be unhappy.

Speaking of which, what do you suppose they'll do with that SNES game plan and games never released in the USA? Do you suppose US gamers will finally be able to play games like Romancing Saga 3 or Seiken Densetsu 3 or do you suppose they'll be *****y about regions?

As for the console's specs, Nintendo is claiming that Revolution is around two to three times more powerful than Gamecube. While Ninty has been saying for some time that it wasn't going to place a focus on ever-more-powerful hardware, it's interesting to note that Xbox 360 is said to be 10 to 13 times more powerful than Xbox, while PS3 is, according to Sony, a whopping 35 times more powerful than PS2.

By the sounds, it will just be an upgraded GC. o_O

I fail to see how they are going to contend graphically with the Xbox and PS3...

I don't they're interested in getting into a graphical pissing match, but rather trying to make accessible games and widen their audience accordingly.

It would seem so. I hope they make the games to survive on then.

I personally like the eye candy coupled with the gameplay. The most thing I want to see though is some MMO games.

Otherwise I might end up sticking with the PC for my online games...

I doubt the Graphics Gap is going to be THAT big, i mean, just take a glance at the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess trailer - hot DAMN that game looks great - you'll see that the Graphics are fine as they are on the 'Cube, so i won't really mind if the Revolution isn't as good graphically as the '360 and the PS3. Also, you simply CANNOT beat the games Nintendo owns, as in the Zelda Series, Mario, and their already profitable bond with Capcom - Resident Evil 5 anyone? :D

I was always tempted to get a Cube for Smash Bros, Zelda and Pikmin (which looks hilarious).

I'm quite content with my Xbox for now though. I've been looking into MMORPG's for the PC lately. They all cost so damn much though. o_O

I picked up Splinter Cell: Chaos theory other day, and am having much fun with it. :)

I must say that I am deeply dissapointed with all the new console designs. Dreamcast is still one sexy beast compared to these, umm...modems? I wonder if they are all designed by the same guy? ;) Oh well, the only thing that really matters to me is what games they are gonna release for them. That said, I'm planning of getting Revolution, especially if it can play old games.
