There is not :doubt: What's the use in re-enacting stupid old battles just because you've won them? Ah sure, we could celebrate Marignan or Austerlitz, but what's the point, besides satisfying some stupid ego?
Typically british, if you pardon me :p

We produced Blair. You produced Chirac. I like neither but let's be honest you owe the world an apology more than us :p.

One of the guys here is a re-enactor - English Civil War mainly - he said the interest in France and Germany is HUGE - about 10x what it is in the UK.. and Napoleon is the one big hero, nevermind that he lost in the end, there were enough 'wins' to keep them happy...

On the subject of re-enactors:

The Batley Townswomen's Guild set to re-enact the battle of Pearl Harbor.

That's bull. Nothing more to add to that :p ( sure we like Napoleon, but some before have done better than him, for exemple, making Britain French for 200 years :D -besides DeGaule is the most popular around here, not Napoleon ).

I thought frenchmen's ideals stood for libery, quality and freedom? :p I wouldn't put Chirac on the winning side of a debate about that.

Egality, not quality :p (quality sounds fascist too ~~ )
I'm not a socialist. Socialism brought us unemployement, debts and ****, and now they want to blame it on Chirac. I don't like Chirac much, mind you, but better off with him than the socialists like Jospin or Fabius. We've had some improvements with him, basically coz he took up Rafarin as a prime minister, and that poor guy is being used to do all the nasty job, so Chirac is about alright. But his popularity is still dropping, obviously. Rule 1 is that pleasing the people -> opposite of efficient running of a country. And French have way too many social aids and ****, they think everything is for granted, they go on strikes whenever there's no paper in the toilets, etc. Bah, I'm pretty sure our next president's gonna be Sarkozy, and he's gonna do some cleaning up, I hope.

So yeah, I prefer Chirac to that fake leftist that is Blair, who try mild right wing politics while being shy about it and, well, that just makes no sense. And you can't deny the fact that in the end, Chirac was bloody right to say "Us going to Irak? No way, go on your own!" :p

Britain was never French. The Normans were vikings who kicked the **** out of the original French people in Normandy and settled there. :p

In fact apart from the vikings just about every invasion force that ever landed in Britain was the result of the French failing to put up a good enough fight :p

The Normans only conquered England, not Britain, anyways.

The Anglo-Norman kings also declared war on France in the 100 years war after the French king seized their Normandy, etc, land (the Normans - the Kings of England - controlled half of France by then).

I think it's fair to say they weren't 'French' in the conventional sense, nor did they conquer Britain.
