 AGREEMENTS WITH DREAMCATCHER TERMINATED

In other news, while Universal Combat - A World Apart, the eagerly awaited sequel to the original 2004 game, went Gold on 04-15-05 for release this May, several issues with the publisher (Dreamcatcher) have not only held up the boxed retail release of that title, but also led to the termination of the agreement. As a result, Dreamcatcher no longer has those rights as they have now reverted back to 3000AD Inc. We are in the process of negotiating with other interested parties for the boxed retail rights to this product.

We also recently terminated the Battlecruiser Millennium Gold and Universal Combat agreement which we also had with this publisher. Those rights have also now reverted back to 3000AD Inc and a cease & desist has been issued to Dreamcatcher, advising them to stop any further production and marketing of these two games or face legal action under the DMCA and other copyright infringement laws.

This issue with Dreamcatcher does not affect the e-commerce download version of UCAWA, which we expect to have available within the coming weeks once all the server side preparations have been completed and tested with our e-commerce partners (e.g. Trymedia, BMT Micro and others) who will be carrying the product.

Derek did worst to Take 2, don't be surprised, he can always find another publisher, or publish it himself.

Hmmmm... had a feeling this was what would end up happening. DS struck me as a very hands-on programmer, that much, at least, I will give him credit for. I didn't see him ever being happy whilst someone else was in control of any stage of his games life.

Will it make him or break him? Time will tell.

"Derek Smart's DESKTOP COMMANDER"!

Just ran across that video today, cleaning up an old HDD.
SERIOUSLY...! | {The Sandvich Bar} - Rhino-FS2 Tutorial | CapShip Turret Upgrade | The Complete FS2 Ship List | System Background Package

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

who the hell cares?.   i don't really give a **** about the man's abilities, most of us don't like him for the sort of person he is.. a PhD don't mean ****, it's just some letters on a piece of paper.. it's how you are as a person that's important

that said, my personal opinions about him, would be shared by many around here...
in the past, it woulda been nice if he asked the opinions of the general fanbase of if he did what he was going to do.. albiet the reactions of some wasn't showcase material, his reaction was just as bad..

anywho.. this is the funniest thing i heard all day.. not to mention i saw a dust-covered box of battlecruiser milennium sitting on the shelf of the local compy store...50 bucks... i wouldn't pay fifty cents... :p

Well, if darts can be called a sport, then I guess they can be called games.

Derek smart is clever, really - he's targeting the niche market of sadists (who buy the game as a present) and masochists (who play them).
