Um... Dr. William Hammesfahr seems to be quite a dubious individual; he was interviewed by the judge in 2002 giving testimony over this case and his testimony ruled to be anecdotal rather than factual.

This is the same one who claimed a 1999 Nobel Prize nomination; not only is that against Nobel regulations (there's a 50 year wait before nominees can be named), it was a nomination from his congressman (which isn't a valid person to nominate someone; technically, I could become a Nobel prize nominee if I got my MP to write in, and it would be pretty much the same value).
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Hammesfahr / http://amr2you.blogspot.com/2005/03/florida-neurologist-that-claims-that.html)

He was also fined by the Florida board of health (although a more severe 2003 judgement on the same case was succesfully appealed against) for overcharging a patient. (http://uspolitics.about.com/b/a/155906.htm)

So...having seen his website (http://www.hni-online.com/), and heard (quotations/articles) of him before, I'd suggest he has a certain self-interest anyways with regard to his own claims.  I'd be a lot more inclined to trust an independent 3rd party for this sort of judgement, because of that.

EDIT; claims of bias against WorldNetDaily itself; http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2005/schiavo.html

That was only a little generalizing, Bob. ;) I'm pro-life, happy go lucky, republican Christian all the way, but I still think keeping her alive was a waste just as much as the majority of people did. The doctors who had gone to school far longer than I have said she wouldn't recover.. she was basically lifeless. At that point, I considered her dead, regardless of what her parents said.
I am a revolutionary.
