That sucks icespeed :( Most I can say is live and learn though, and don't leave your stuff lying around if you can help it.

Anyway, yea, peopel suck, but I hang around the good ones. The bad ones can go blow themselves for all I care. If you're not a good person, then I don't want to know you.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Why don't you guys go into the list and edit it around a bit? It's really annoying, especially for story writers (check the movie thread or the art forums and see how many *'s are in each one :D).

thanks guys... for those who showed a little sympathy anyway, that was a comfort.

for those ppl who reckon i deserved it, you know there aren't that many pockets in my swimmers to carry all that stuff, and i wasn't planning on bringing my towel into the water with me. and it's not like i could _get_ to the beach in the first place without bringing some money and id for the bus, and don't tell me not to bring my mobile with me.
oh hang on, yeah, that's what my mum said too. it's all my fault, i was asking for it. like those chicks who dress normally and then get raped, obviously they were asking for it too, i mean it's not the guy's fault he can't control his urges. it's not general thieving scumbags' fault they can't control their kleptomania.

sheesh.

and yeah. beach. swimming. what else would i be doing?

Aaaaaaah.
There's is a huge, a colossal, a fantasmagotic differcen between "you asked for it" and "you deserved it" :p
I meant "you should have seen it coming". Really, I've been told not to leave my stuff alone like that since I'm a little kid. When I go to the beach, we just go in two groups, on goes to water while the other stays on the beach and does... whatever they want, but keep an eye on the stuff. And if you're alone... her... going alone on the beach is kind of sad :p
:doubt: now I can see you reading my previous post and picturing me laughing like mad watching at my screen and saying "take that, b****!"
Come on :doubt:

I think you're kind of missing the point Nico. This thread is about the fact that people suck because they can't be trusted not to steal someones stuff when they go for a swim. In that - it's quite true. They do suck.

Whether or not icespeed should have been more cautious isn't the point. Certainly a lesson has been learned from that experience - but it doesn't alter the fact that people can be incredibly unpleasent.

Personally I think there should be a large increase in things like the show Swag did but with prosecutions as well as the humiliation.

For those who didn't watch it, the show Swag would do things like leaving the keys in the door of a car and wait for people to try to steal it at which point the doors would lock and foam would spray out all over them.
The best trick they would play would be to leave the door of a lorry open and when some scally jumped in to nick the stuff, they'd lock it, pull down the sides and drive him around town with the loudspeak blaring about how they'd captured a thief. One time they drove the guy around for hours and I bet he must have been sh*ting himself when he started seeing signs for Dover :D

The thing is if more people did that casual crime would vanish over night as everyone would think that a bag left unattended on the beach was too good to be true.

Oh no Nico, you can say it - but I can point out how irrelevant it is to the point being made originally. That's the joy of freedom of speech ;)
