Nebulae experiments
I did a few experimental nebulas in Corel:

They look nicely blurred on the Windows desktop, but ugly pixelated in IE6, like 8 bit paletted images. Dunno why..

  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
nice, try to get your hands on Photoshop, or at least photoshop elements..

either way, try to tweek the color richness of the neb out some more, make it more eyecatching.

but a good start nonetheless.

oh, and if your proggy supports it, make the brighter pinpoints of light look like pinpoints of light.. grab a digital camera, and take a photo of the sun to get my point, also, try to use a linear dodge layer.

in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,

Cool, I like where you're going with these. Keep working on them - I can see them improving a lot more with practice.

Thanks m8 !
I'm curious how much I can do with this 10 years old prog. :)
Started to use some freeware photoshop plugins.
They won't substitute talent though. :D

I like that last one alot, although I think it's a little bit too 2D. Try adding some depth and more fuzziness to the front cloud.
Wh00t!? Vinyl? Is it like an I-pod 2 or something?

hmm... that's Mary and Jesus, isn't it?
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

Awesome, although it still looks a little bit too...sharp. Like it's too detailed(and I do realize that some regular clouds here on Earth look sharp as well), but I just think that it would look better with the foreground fuzzed out. I dunno, I guess it'd be nice to compare it... still, amazing work.

I realize that it's too detailed for a nebula we are used to. There must be a way to do what you say, only I couldn't figure out how to do it in my 2D prog yet. I can blur the image or make some fog but it loses depth and background detail then.
Originally I wanted to make a really dense cloud which hardly releases the light of newborn stars inside. Also wanted to make it more textured than usual. Now it's a bit overdone, and I need to start it over with another method to improve.
Thanks anyway !

[color=66ff00]What I think it's missing is significant shadowing to add depth. The 'ripples' seem a bit too numerous and I think the density should be lowered.

But I'm just speculating.

The colours and composition are excellent IMHO.
