The Doom Movie Looking a little better.
Sounds a little better now to me anyway.  Can't wait till the trailer is released.  The best part to me is that IT ACTUALLY TAKES PLACE ON MARS! ;7

The second clip is the one that got the most reaction; part of the first person shooter sequence featuring Urban’s character. Yes, the movie will at one point have a viewpoint just like the game, right down to the weapons loading animation. The sequence was, by the producer’s own admission, still incomplete in terms of visual effects and other elements but watching the clip feels like you are watching the game in action, from surprise monster appearance in corridors to shooting parts of the environment to fry the creatures.

Sounds kind of ;7 but also:wtf:

Well if the demons are demons from hell and not an alien virus, I'm fine with it even if the BFG is now some lame "Bioforce Gun" and the UAC troopers look like a SWAT team.

Feel like you're in the game? Sounds like it'd feel like watching Extended Play (...or whatever they changed the name to after I had to get rid of cable).

EDIT: Of course, from the article (that ignorant me just read) it doesn't sound like that'll be the majority of the movie.

Uwe Boll (who else) did the same thing in House of the Dead, apparently.  Although I think he used actual game footage (:wtf: ).

Statements like this always annoy me...as if an actor/actress will say their new movie is bad

I wouldn't want a movie that 'kicks ass'.  Because having my ass kicked would be somewhat painful and inconvenient at the best of times.

This horrific dog is coming out on my birthday? Thanks for nothing, Hollywood. For Christmas, you can save a few dollars and just come over to my house and just pluck out my eyeballs with a fork.

I was really hoping plans for this garbage would fall through.

So were Resident Evil 1 & 2 - although I conceed that they were unusually good for game -> movie conversions.

Has anyone read anything interesting concerning the FarCry movie?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The director tells us all, surely?

Presumably he'll be renting the Island Of Dr. Moreau for his pre-production.

You're kidding right? RE1 was one of the worst game->movie carryovers ever made. If I'd downloaded it off the internet and burned it on a DVD and watched it, I'd probably want to sue the producers for my time, wasted DVD, electricity and bandwidth.

No, I'm not kidding, mik. I am NOT the kind of person who likes suspense movies (you know, the ones that make you jump, sit on the edge of your seat out of tension, etc, not talking about action movies), and suspense + zombies is just over the top for me.

That said, however, I never played any of the Resident Evil games (ok, I played the first one on a PlayStation for all of 3 minutes before it got too freaky for me), so I can't comment on how successful a carryover it was, but just from a movie point of view they were pretty decent... better in some ways (in my eyes, I repeat) than the neon-plastic Batman movies. :p
