Might be worth moving this to the art forum unless you're planning to but the giant insect into the game though. (Wouldn't be the first time either).
I'm not advanced enough to put anything into a game, although I hope that one of my classes in the upcoming semesters will teach that (I'm actually in college for video game design, one of about 5 girls in the major). ^_^; I can't even animate 3D. 2D--no problem. I've actually been working on the script and concept art for an animated movie that my friend and I are collaborating on for the past six years and am now starting to animate pieces of it. I could provide you guys with the files for it, though, and as long as you don't steal it and claim for your own (I don't see why you'd want to) you'd be welcome to animate it or put it in any game that you'd like.
Also, concerning liberated software (directed towards Maeglamor) as far as I understand it with artistic tools such as 3DS and Photoshop, etc., the companies don't really care about liberated or not liberated until you start trying to make a profit off of things that you've done in the program--which I never have. ^_^
Anyways, as far as texturing goes, throw something at me and I'll give it a shot when I get some free time (which, I'll admit, isn't often--I goto school 3 days a week and work the other 4. I'm a full-time employee. 10 hours a day for 4 consecutive days is rough.) But yeah, give me something and I'll do my best shot at retexturing it.
