Sorry, mik, but he's right. Of course, I thought ND was stupid after I saw it... until my friends started quoting it one night while eating out in town... :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I think you're confusing quotable for "has funny soundbites" Its the difference between clever writing and clever sound effects. ND and South Park and Beavis and Butthead are all things you might stick on a soundboard. Zoolander and Princess Bride have lines and scenes that you will quote.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

"Your mom went to college".  How could something so random and stupid be so awesome? :D

Also...
"Generally, you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance."
"I collect spores, molds, and fungus."
"Gozer the Traveler!  He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms.  During the Rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveler came as a large and moving Torb! Then, during the Third Reconciliation of the Last of the Meketrex Supplicants, they chose a new form for him, that of a giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of a Sloar that day, I can tell you!"
"Now I'm going to count to three, and If I don't get to talk to Dana, there's going to be some real trouble in this apartment, I think."
"You're gonna endanger us.  You're gonna endanger our client, the nice lady who paid us in advance before she became a dog."
"Suck in the guts guys, we're the ghostbusters."
"Do", "Re", "Egon"
"There are so many holes on 1st avenue, we didn't think anyone would notice."
I'd post more, but I cant think of anymore.  Stupid brain.  Anyway, Ghostbusters 1&2 are the most underrated quote movies of all time.  Next to Caddyshack.

I'm sorry, but the only movie I ever hear quoted at my school is ND. Therefore, it is extremely quotable. You can debate the intelligence of the writing when compared to something like TPB, but nevertheless, it is extremely qouteable.

Actually, I would debate the intelligence of those quoting it, not the writing.

I would agree with ngtm1r on the debate of the intelligence of the people quoting it. Everyone at my school quotes it or used to, but they're all posers...

more quotes:

audience member: why did you decide to skip film school?
student at podium (i forget name): SHUT THE F*CK UP!!
         - The Girl Next Door

"Stay classy San Diego, I'm Ron Burgandy?"- Anchorman

"Damnit! Who put the question mark on the teleprompter? I told you anything up there Ron will read." - Anchorman

"Was if the terrorists?"
"No, they came from somewhere else."
"You mean like Europe?"
"No, not like Europe Robbie" - War of the Worlds

Anchorman is a pretty qoutable movie too, on account of the lines being so ridiculously stupid.
Derek Smart is his own oxymoron.

I couldn't stand Napoleon Dynamite. What does everyone think is so great about it?

I'm with EtherShock on this one. ND had some kind of amusing moments but it really wasn't that funny. I found it far too slow moving, it just seemed quite poor.

Still, each to their own of course.

Napoleon Dynamite was a niche film.  It wasn't a Hollywood POS teen movie about someone trying to date the hot chick, or anything lame like that.  It was strictly week-in-the-life of a few people, nothing more.  And the best part about the movie, is that it was believeable.  There was nothing that was too far fetched in the movie about anything, unlike most other films.

Didn't you find that boring though? I mean alright it was funny when Napoleon wanders around calling people idiots all the time. But it just didn't really do anything. At all. Ever.

Now I'm not saying that the Hollywood teen movies go anywhere either, but I am saying that there are a lot of other films out there that are much more worth talking about.

Quite the contrary, I was having low expectations of the movie, but in the end, I found the situations and the characters amusing.  Napoleon calling people idiots was just icing on the cake.  A movie like this, where the main character does his ups and downs, and ends up in a state of mediocrity, gets it's humor from the "it's funny because it's true" clause.  It was very well made, IMO, and as I said, it's definately a niche film.

Maybe the nerdsploitation hit just a little to close to home for me to find it amusing, and the dialogue wasn't something special either, but then again, neither were the characters.
