I haven't started gluing everything together yet, so I've still got lots of time to play with the textures. What do y'all think?

Maybe you could try using Lithunwrap to generate the UV, even if you aren't going to make a single texture map for them

Thank you =) I'm undecided about the turret textures.. I'm pretty sure I want the rotating turrets on the top and bottom to stay the way they are, but I'm thinking that the beam and laser turrets on the sides of the ship might look better with a grey or black texture... I tried it both ways and couldn't decide which I liked better.

In the origional post there's backstory on how the ship got developed. It was origionally an NTF design, but they didn't have time to finish any before they got kicked out of Epsilon Peg. It was intended to be a smaller fusion of the Iceni, the Deimos, and the Aeolus. I like the Iceni's engine arrangement a lot better than most of the other terran caps, so I decided to see what I could do with it.

Hehehe......count me in then. I do the sketches. I get others to do the 3D model for me. I can do 3D models but only in 3D Studio Max.

That's absolutely fine. Get someone to help you learn the conversion process for 3DS->POF - your Neptune cruiser would be a great addition to the fleet.
