I decided to learn howto properly render and so I did a Golgotha render.  Feast your eyes apon it.  Suggestions more than welcome.

Deep space? That's almost low orbit!

Nice work there. I'd just point on the small black dot on the middle of the star, is that supposed to be there?
Probably away. Contact through email.

The star looks a bit 'animeish'

But it's a good view of the Golgotha.

If the star is in the FOV, every ship should be a shadow basically... the lighting on the planet is also incorrect.

But that is one great render considering you say that "You are trying to learn"

If you were an expert I'd say that the stars are way too big and the hercs seem a bit too big heh

Render quality is great though.. what did you use?

I'd love to render my flagship blowing a hole in the golgotha's side... hehe

right in the meson reactor chamber...

That reactor has some of the strongest armor on the entire ship

The lighting on the planet is just fine by me....but the angle is off yes...but I just sort of threw it in using LunarCell...so yeah

Size is a matter of distance and perspective...these Herc's aren't necessarily the wrong size if they are somewhere much closer to the camera than the Golgotha.

Keep the creative criticism coming

Well it looks like the Hercs have the wrong perspective

I think if they were as close as they appear to the golthoga, it would have a bit of motion blur in it

I'd think the planet should look more like this:

As for the pilot, it would have to be close to side on to the star in order to have that type of shadow - to be side-on with a star that size means that the star and planet would have to be more or less to scale (they'd be on the same plane). So that planet would have to be... roughly... several times larger than the star

But I personally don't care, and you seem to have tricked everyone else on the thread, and that is enough of a gauge to see that you're doing something right.

Other than that, you should try and look into the wonders of slight bump-mapping, as that Golgotha looks slightly flat. But top job on the lighting.

Nice job, and keep it up.

In my opinion, you should only have a star in the picture when you want lots of shadows.... because if the star is off-camera, you can get better lighting.  For example, in that pic, the [G] should be a 'hole' against the starfield, with lighting from lights and perhaps the meson core (is it supposed to glow?)

But anyhow, as it normally goes.... art > realism.

Edit:  Meson, not Knossos.

Because of the lighting on the planet, perhaps?

Not low orbit. More like high orbit. Low orbit should be nearer to the planet's atmosphere don't you think?

Maybe the "black dot" there is a SJ Sathanas waiting to jump on the Golgotha.......
