Re: A campaign where you play as the shivans.
In the port of the FS1 campaign, there are parts of the Ancients' monologues which give some insight to their motives.  The reference that comes to mind goes something like, "They are the destroyers, but also the protectors."  *Crosses fingers and hopes that's right.*  Maybe someone could extrapolate their motives off the Ancients' monologues.

Or you could retell the FS1 campaign where the Shivans win...  ;)

But that could be a stretch...

Bush (Verb) -- To do stupid things with confidence.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Right. Check that thread: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,37231.75.html

And of course us :mad2: would like such a campaign  :wakka: . Just us wouldn't have any briefings, as us is a collective - as you surely know...?  ;)
Oh, and if Alpha1 appears in mission, that's no problem - just switch the player to the next ship (collective, remember?  ;) ).

Re: A campaign where you play as the shivans.
Why don't someone re-create the Ancient - Shivan war, that happens before FS1 ???

-----------------------------------------------

I have updated Inferno to allow full Shivan Support, that means the Docks (also for the Ancients), the messages.tbl, the ships.tbl (added descriptions, Countermeasures, selectable weapons, selectable ships, etc.), the weapons.tbl (added more weapons, descriptions, and make them selectables), the Shivan Ship Interface (Weapon LoadOut and Icons), added a Shivan Support ship, etc....

There are Shivan Ships from FS1/FS2 that has wrong DockPoints or don't have any, that are not present in Inferno, but if someone want really to make something, I can check the Dockpoints, of Shivan FS1/FS2 ships to correct or add the correct ones.

Plus if you use Inferno you will have a full selection of Ancients ships, but you could be the winner without the need of encounter yourself on the enemy side, I mean Alpha 1, an knowing the Ancient Juggernauts and Installations, I believe a really massive battle can be done, very much massive than FS1 and FS2.....

Even before read this thread that was my purpose for allowing Shivan Ships as selectables (that someone do a Campaign), I mean, how people will make Shivan Campaings, when they're hardly selectables ?

----------------------------------

Anyways, if Terran and Vasudans ships are not used, that would left space to put togheter FS1+FS2+Inferno Shivan's ships, which would make a really wide selection for players.............

I guess since Volition is no longer around to reveal more about the Freespace universe such a project is feasible, but it will take quite a storyteller to make a convincing and unique picture of Shivan society or if it lacks a society, Shivans in general. There is a bigger risk of ending up being disapppointed - though I suppose no explaination would be better than a bad one
Long time ago, you see, there was this thing called the VBB and... oh, nevermind.
