Well thats definately true. We're seeing

of FPS games that are in the same vein doing much the same thing.
Its the execution of the concept that is what counts in this case.
Perfect Dark you could argue was just another N64 Goldeneye game (afterall it did come from the same team). The thing that made PD fun was the atmsophere and the level design. One mission had you sneaking around the streets and the way you interacted with the people there played quite a bit into what you could and could not do in the level as well as how it played out.
Another mission had you searching the wreckage of a crashed futureistic version of Air Force One. Another was in an alien spaceship at the bottom of the ocean.
All of them had their unique puzzle and twist that took it above the standard "shoot everything that moves" sort of FPS game that was out at the time. Goldeneye on N64 also had that. It was as much about the gadgets and levels as it was about shooting the bad guys and defeating obstacles.
So the question will be if they are able to maintain the charm and style of the original but update it to present day graphics and then take the gameplay a bit further.
