LONDON (AFP) - US
President George W. Bush allegedly said God told him to invade
Iraq and
Afghanistan, a new BBC documentary will reveal, according to details.

Read through it, it's funny and scary at the same time :nervous:...not only that, but since when was the Christian God so ineloquent? The way Bush describes him, it sounds like he was talking like an uneducated Texan...hmm...

That's not news. A lot of people have figured that for a long time...
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Does this bother anyone else?

Not that I have anything against Christians being in gov't positions, but when someone starts saying they're on a mission from God, and he's actually spoken to them...that bothers me.

I think he was speaking figuratively, he meant that it was his faith or something guiding him, a gut feeling, I hear christians use that phrase all the time. not that invadeing a country on a gut feeling is a lot better.

I like how God can be used for both the popular moves and the unpopular moves.

Something about "too many saviours on my cross" perhaps?

"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Of course, this is all ridiculous.  God didn't tell Bush to invade Iraq.

His dad did.

he actaully directly made a statement to this effect that is on record and attributed to him - in a speech to amish during the last campaign. (a statement to the effect that god talks to him)

I have no problem with people of any religion holding office so long as they don't start using their religion to legislate and start saying "$DEITY told me to do it!"

Then again, you never knnow..maby God DID tell him to that :sarcasm:

But then again, if you think about it - if Jesus were to come today and talk the same stuff all over he would end up in a mental institution or would be killed again :(
