It's about as mutch as Ibanez GIO :) acustic bass guitars are quite expencive... I have an electric one :) ... I think it's better to buy an electric one if you want to learn bass... acustic bass really sucks ass, well... except if you are outside :D

I hate Strats. They're ugly, they sound nasty and they're far too popular. If any non-player talks about guitars, the first thing he mentions will be a Stratocaster. If you get a Fender, get a Fat Telecaster (humbucker in the bridge). Much better.

Sorry, bit of a rant there.

Setekh: I wouldn't get a semi-acoustic, personally. They're kind of useless because they don't sound as good as acoustics when they're unplugged, and you can't drive them as much when they're wired up because of the ghastly feedback you'll get. Try cranking up the gain next time you plug your acoustic in, and you'll see what I mean...:D

You'd be better off getting a nice acoustic (a Taylor or something) as well as a solidbody. Of course, that means you have to spend more...

Well, I used to play the double bass (you know, 4 strings, XXXXL Violin) 3 years back, but I want to get back into music with something a bit more capable of sounding good on it's own, and a little bit more portable. Normal guitar seems a bit too, well, often played, and bass seems to be something you're always welcome with. And electric, well, I would like to be capable of playing without amps, and to have a go at the more classical stuff too.

ofc if i want to play The Who or somthing ill stick to the alvarez but if i want to ripp some creed or somthing, stuff like that sounds a hell of alot better on an electric. An acoustic electric isnt what i had in mind, cuz i alreay have an acoustic i can play and iv always wanted an electric since i saw my classmate play with his....

bout the stratocaster thats exactly what i though when he said it, im out to buy a beginner guitar not blow half my summer salary on it

[color=66ff00]A tele? Twang! Yuck! Far too much high end for me, sounds like someone making guitar sounds through their nose.

I do have a 68 re-issue olympic white strat (the real deal) looks and sounds magnificent. :D

Each to their own as they say.

[color=66ff00]I've heard that Fender have got their act together as far as the squier range goes, used to be that they were substandard sound and componenets but they've been getting decent reviews recently.

Still I'm sticking woth my inital recomendation, the Pacifica really is a good guitar.

It has an extra string and everything.

That's expensive. If you want a 7-string get a Samick. I got mine for under $150. Good quality. Excellent tuning pegs (best I've felt). The body is kind of heavy but nothing too bad.

I have my 7-string tuned AEADGBE. Sounds decent enough for any Korn song I've ever needed to play. :D

[color=66ff00]Looks like an ash body, never did think the extra string was worth the effort though.
