actually, i've been lurking at HLP for the past couple of months. a long long time ago, i saw a game called Freespace 2 in the bargain bucket at the local games store. i'd read somewhere that it was good, so i picked it up. unfortunately, on getting it home i put it down for what must be... oh, a good three years.
hehe, I remember getting FS2 at the
CeBIT. T'was back in err.... 2001 IIRC. It was a tough decision if I really wanted to buy it (I kinda have a problem with most sequels). Hasn't left my life and/or computer since.

fast forward to a few months ago when there was a giant thread about FS" on the Something Awful forums. remembering i had a copy i dug it out, and started browsing through the overwhelming amount of mods out there, not to mention the icing on the cake that is the SCP :thepimp:
Hehe, I didn't get around to the SCP till I had my new computer here. Voodoo 3 + SCP = boom. I originally came to HLP when the FS2 multiplayer community got too boring for me, and I was kinda drifting away from PXO.

anyhow, with everything seeming to happen at once - the new build released, and the new launcher, and the new shinemaps - i figured it was high time to stop lurking
That's not a coincidence though. See, with the 3.6 release the code freeze is lifted, which in turn will mean that soon Bobs stuff will be in CVS. Which will then make 99% of the people use the new features, and turning on alpha env. I have waited for this time to start Shinemaps2.0 as they'll feature full alpha_env support. New engine capabilities == new stuff for SCP
