I'm back from the dead!!! Ashrak made a CG render of Voyager http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,23985.msg480735.html#msg480735 and it got my steam back!!!

I'm still tweaking the model for smoothness. Relearning PCS and Truespace.... its been awhile.

Most of P81's models have accuracy issues. I'm just killing time before Scotchy's bombshell hits home.

jdjtcagle, like Bobboau said, I'm just the middle man. Not to say that it takes no effort.

There is still much work to be done, such as hunting for polygon intersections, vertice welding. My modeling and texturing skills are put to work when adding damage subobjects and textures. Taking the model to the destruction phase takes much time. The hardest part is perfecting the weapon and subsystem placement. Much tweaking needs to be done for canon purposes.

Of the released Trek conversions, the Galaxy is the one I put the most effort into. Now I'm gonna have to throw all that work away to convert Scotchy's NON-beta model.

yeah too cartoony in the texture department.

Is this the ship that it's wings or nacelles or whatever fold or bend or something?  What was the point of that, anyway?

Is this ship gonna have bendable wings too?

bendibel wings serve no purpose in the game. For Trek it is simply a way of reconfiguring the warp field for more efficent use in different situations (the inrepid was a test bed for some new technologies like the bio-gel computer crap instead of the iso liniear chips on the ent-D)... Be'lana! Is that Prell in your hair or the replicator core programming? ;)

  good stuff

HEY Omni, can you upgrade that galaxy X we use for retail to make trashman happy? (I do agree it needs a facelift and some physical tweaking).

you didn't get the GEL joke... (do they sell PRELL shampoo in your country? I merely picked a name but I think they sell it in GEL form also)

The intrepid calss was the first to have the new BIO-GEL computers. Remember how weekly the Ent-D crew would magically move some chips around and their device would now work, or have the new function to solve their problems (like when wesly was "drunk" and pulled out 300 of them and the engines didn't work but they needed warp speed in 2 mins or die! lol

Well no more chips (or at least a damn less percentage of them) as the BIO-GEL packs (tm) are the new CPU's

I am not a total techo babble freak so go to startrek.com or daystrom institute if you want to know the EXACT workings/use of them but that's it in a nutshell.

Just found this thread.

Looks pretty good, but there's one problem:
The name of the ship is not on the bow like that, IIRC.  I'm pretty sure that the saucer's more rounded off, actually.
