really? I thought the various South American cultures (that we know of) didn't exist before maybe 500 AD, and reached their pinnacle in between 1000 and 1500 AD. Of course, it stands to reason that they probably came over the Bering Strait while it as still possible to do so, so the people are almost certainly very old, but I have never come across anything to indicate that civilizations themselves were that old.

It does actually fit the legend quite well. The minoans were more advanced than the civilisations around them and they were destroyed by a volcanic eruption and floods.

Akhenaton's veneration of Aten is contested as the first recorded monotheistic religion. If Zoroastrianism began around 1400BC (it has a wide range of starting dates), it was the first recorded (though to be fair, it's more a form of dualism, which at its heart is monotheism... yes).
