Kazan, the engine should glow even if it's obscured. The way you simulated engine glows was by having lens flares, right? Well, that's not what an engine glow is caused by.
Lens flares are the effects that occur in photos because of a bright light sourcee being directly visible.
Engine glows seem to be more like a constant cloud or haze of gas behind the engine, that is lit up by the light from the engine. So you don't need to have a direct LOS to see the glow.
