Is anyone flying any particular flight sims online these days? I don't have Pacific Fighters/Forgotten Battles, so that basically takes me out of that arena, and LOMAC is just way too counter-intuitive and badly programmed.

Is there anything else to fly online with out there? I have CFS2 (11 people in the MS lobby : ), Jane's WWII Fighters, and a couple others.

I got Janes WW2 fighters. Still one of the best ww2 fighter sims out there after IL2. I wouldn't mind taking you on in multiplayer in it.

-Type x97: l97 and hit enter (there has to be a space between the colon and the l)
-Hit tab ONCE
-While holding down shift and ctrl, click on the Chart Wizard button in the toolbar (it's the one with the little picture of a bar graph)

Yeah, LO-MAC is buggy with bad framerate issues.I really sujest you get IL-2, I think it's down to $20. Or if you got the PC to run it, GET IL-2FB, and if you want more get IL- FB: ACE expansion pack. I think their $20 a piece. And believe me, you will want to throw your CPU out the window after that ace gets you at the end of a mission. And be advised IL-2 is very realistic.


And if you get IL-2, I might just have to go on multi-player and shot you down.

I played Aces High (http://www.hitechcreations.com/) for a little while a few year ago, and it was an awesome flight sim. Not sure what it's like now, but they give you a free 2 week trial.

I've heard of Mig Alley, but I'd really like a game that people still play.

And I used to have IL-2 (lost the disk)...I really don't want to spend all that dough on a game (IL2FB) without having gigantic super-duper awesomeness improvements over the original (IL2).

I´m dying for some REAL flying, myself. One of my life dreams is to get my pilot´s license. And then, as soon as i win the lottery, i would buy a nice WWII fighter, like a P-51, and cruise the skies in total bliss.
But since all that is a long ways to go, i have to make due with "Secret Weapons over Normandy". It´s not a sim, it´s more an arcade game. But it´s much more fun to play. I have "Pacific Fighters" and "IL2", but those are way too hard. Half the time i´m scrolling through the keyboard looking for the right key to press. And the other half i´m pressing the wrong ones, and crashing in a blaze of anything but glory...

Give Pacific Fighters some time and you'll get accustomed to it.  I've memorized probably 85% of the total number of controls ranging from the level bombsight gear to all of the engine controls.  Work your way up....it gets easier

You needlesly degrade LOMAC.

Ubisoft pulled the plug on ED so they were pushed into an early release.
1.1 is bound to be tons better. I will probably buy it.

LOMAC however is far from being as unstable or performance low as some put it. It was designed with high-grade top of the line PCs in mind - therefore you won't use the high detail on an average system.

I have a pretty outdated videocard that forces me to use the lowest possible detail, and LOMAC still benches most of the compentition IMHO.

There is a trick though:

First off, apply the patch. It solves the 99% of the buggyness.

Next - use Loman.
It is user made app to in-depth tailor the settings of the game. It is widely used by the community and it also makes adding usermade training, missions, campaigns as well as mods a breeze.

Last: grab the fast overcast mod and the optimized explosions mod.
Those two features went a bit over the top, but with them replaced  / toned down even my obsolate system could handle the game flawlessly.
