Qwer(ty?)is a member of the team.I don't understand why he says R2 will be out this december. If Woo says 12-24 months,a lot of work is needed I think. That's absolutely strange.

Qwers a tester, not senior staff. Nothings official unless it comes from me or Sid.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Okay, so what's left? And how many polys does the Ezechiel have? I have an extremely slow system and a model with over 5k brings me down to about 15 fps :ick:. And what are the other hi-poly only ships? I'm hoping that I'll be able to get another computer so I can run higher-memory stuff on it (I'm using my comp from work now).

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Ezechiel is over 4k.

As for HTL only IIRC: Ezechiel, Ezechiel-C, Atlantis, Cepheus. It depends on what you class as HTL. The Gigas hull (no turrets) is 1.7k, so is over the FS2 normal limits. We have a few models in that range.

A lot of our models are over 4k with turrets, especially the EA ones.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
I'd recommend a ATI X700+ with 64MB memory or more, 512MB RAM, and 1GHz+ processor. That should run the HTL stuff quite well.

My laptop is of similar spec to that, and you've seen shots of it running HTL INF and HTL Alliance.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Lol, if that mission with the Nemesis vs. Lucifer had both models at 5k polies, I would be running at about 5 fps. And if I had those missions at the shipyards... Well 0.1 fps.  :doubt:

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
The Nemesis is 4933 polygons for lodo0, the HTL Lucifer is 9909 for lod0. That includes all turrets, rotating parts, and damaged turrets.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Oh, well getting new computer anyway...

Now, for the big question:

What's left? (in case you ask 'INF:A or INF:SCP', I'm going to say both ).

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Well right now SadisticSid is here so I guess Woo and him are working on INF:SCP? Or maybe he's just having a poke around? Anyway, I thought that INF:SCP was going to have the massive ship/weapon check soon? :blah:

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
I only see me here.

I've started the ship check. I have an initial list of over 20 ships to look at.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
ACK! I read through the FAQ thread (veeery bored here at airport), and it says you won't be using VPs?? Is this still true? Because not using VP's is really going to be messy (and unprofessional). Plus, I don't like having so many loose files on my computer, even if I don't need to touch them. I hope this isn't true. :ick:

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Would you want to be patching a 454mb VP file each time we need to make updates?
It's standalone remember it isn't loaded over your FS2 install.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
:shrugs: I'd probably VP-ify the files anyway. 500 Megs isn't that tall an order for my computer. I could see that becoming a problem for others, though... 56k'ers for instance.

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
Well all patches will assume the files are in the data directory. You can't have non HTL and HTL models in a single VP file either. If it breaks it'll be your problem then.

That size is uncompressed. Using 7zip it's around 200mb.

So I take it no VP files. :(.

Well, good thing I'm getting my new computer then...

Re: Inferno ship specs/glory shots
You don't need it in a VP file, and it makes it 1000x easier for us to keep up to date so you don't have to download a full updated version when a few files will do the job.
