I won't be able to get to Australia... starting college next year and all. Be sure to post pics though, Steak! :D
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

I seriously doubt I can go. Flying outside of this country is quite expensive considering the amount I make. Plus I am saving up for.......other objectives. Sorry.

Two things:

  • What's the legal drinking age in Australia?
  • Did you decide on this date because you were sat around on Christmas Day, thought you should set a date, thought 'a year' sounded about right, then remembered that'd put it on Christmas Day, so moved it forward a month?

Legal drinking at 18 (unless the evil, cockless ponces in WA parliament get their way and bump it to 21 - but that'll never happen).

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

:p

Yeah yeah, okay. :p Actually, thanks to our kick-arse unions, teachers just got a pay rise. I'll be looking at a fairly tidy salary of AUD$50000 (just over USD$36000) per year as soon as I graduate. Plus guaranteed raises every year. Which is more than most IT and commerce graduates...

Two things:

  • What's the legal drinking age in Australia?

1. 18.
2. Actually, this was the product of our discussing it over with Michelle's parents. I didn't want it in the middle of the year (had uni stuff to worry about, and this way I can take an awesome honeymoon and look after my new wife while I've got holidays), and then the question was whether they would let us marry in one year or two. Eventually the former option prevailed, and November 25 came out. Funnily enough, nothing to do with Christmas... though we will be taking advantage of the post-Christmas sales to stock up our new home. :)

Yes and no. I mean, they're paying for a fair share of it, but by no means are they financing the whole thing. Really, it's more of a "I don't want the in-laws being a thorn in our side for the rest of our lives" thing.

Is that private or state? You're going to be on a better starting salary than I am... Bastard. :p

State; private is higher, how much so depending on the school. I know, it's kinda funny now; education is generally shunned by plenty of people I know because it's viewed as a non-professional vocation that doesn't make that money. Nuts to that, I say.
