I also suggested that BSG is the 13th Cylon. As in, the ship. Just you watch, one of these days a ship will be docking with Galactica, and the upper hull of the ship will start to glow red...

SGA: As sloppy and borderline incoherent as I expected
BSG: Woah (although Cain seems to be getting painted as full-on 2-dimensional Evil Person, which is unfortunate)

SG-1 was damn good. A little choppy at points, but I suppose it had to be - they were jumping from the SGC, to Dakara, to Chulak, to the fleet, to the Sodan....

And I'm not a fan of the Carter/Orlin thing. Seems a little forced. But then all of Tapping's emo scenes do.

But I'm really impressed with the level of emotion they managed, and that they got there without resorting to cheap tricks like space battles. The Teal'c/Gerak chat was ****ing awesome, as was Gerak's scene in the infirmary.

"I DIE FREE!" is right up there with "FOR THE EMPIRE!" and "KHAAAAN!" in my book.

I don't know about Cain's two-dimensional evilness actually - both she and Adama are willing to sink to equal depths to dispatch the other, one for apparent good, the other for apparent order. I think that's what the producers wanted us to believe at the end, at least. There are two outcomes for the next episode. One is where Cain gets a bullet in the brain. The other is where the Pegasus is somehow destroyed before the decision to fire comes up. I can't see the former happening, especially as Kara would likely be shot before she somehow escaped the CIC given the apparent loyalty of Cain's men.

The thing about Cain is that even though she looks like a 2D evil person, she makes sense if you look a little deeper. Humanity gets wiped out, so she sees it as a time that needs drastic measures and sacrifices. Everything is a life-or-death decision, and so the only way to defend against the Cylons is to preserve military efficiency at all costs.

As Cain probably sees it, those useful for the future have been integrated into the crews, those that would simply slow them down have been left behind.

If you look back in time to Ancient Sparta, you find a mentality no less evil - either come home victorious, or come home dead.
