This is my luck......
Hi all. I'm back again.  And wouldn't you know it, but my laptop is broken.  I was away from the thing for 15 minutes and by 2 year old cousin screws with it.  Broke the power pin.  I have learned the hard way, and let this be a warning to the rest of you who have very young relatives.  Anyway, I got it repaired, albeit with the power pin a tad off center, but then it ceased to function again today as my University's services were reformatting it.  there seems to be oxidation in the pin socket.  Any suggestions?  This is quite frustrating  :hopping: :hopping: :hopping: and I just might have it sent back to the manufacturer for a reliable repair, but that might be a problem if it takes 4 weeks.  Any feedback appreciated.  Thanks.  :sigh:

1. Toshiba Satellite 4600 I believe.

2. I'm afraid not.  No professional training of any sort.  Unprofessional training is zilch too.  That I left to the repairman in Florida, who seemed to have done a a good job on it.

Well you could just solder an external socket to it or get a replacement part.

The soldering job would be pretty straightforward but you do need to know a bit about electronic devices.

Sounds a bit dicey to me, and I don't know a thing about how electronic devices are put together.  The replacement part seems the best bet to me, although it would take time (which I do have).
